Now for the last spot, based on the current live rankings:

:FRA Burel/Parry (106)

------------------------------------------------

:GRE Grammatikopoulou/Sakkari (108) - But Sakkari said she wants to play with Papamichail, but Papamichail/Sakkari would be 118 right now, so if they don't make it then I guess she will still try with Grammatikopoulou? I'm not sure.

:ITA Bronzetti/Cocciaretto (110)

:ROU Bogdan/Cristian (118)

:CRO Martic/Vekic (119)

:HUN Babos/Bondar (119)

:ESP Badosa/Bouzas Maneiro (120)

:LAT Ostapenko/Semenistaja (126) - I think Sevastova has a higher protected ranking that would get her in with Ostapenko but I think she has a bad injury and won't be able to make Paris. Not 100% sure though.

:POL Frech/Kawa (128) - If the first team is Linette/Swiatek.

:MEX Olmos/Zarazua (129)

:BRA Pigossi/Stefani (130) - If Brazil chooses Gamarra Martins/Haddad Maia, otherwise Pigossi with one of the others would be even lower than 130.

:GBR Lumsden/Nicholls (131)

:SVK Mihalikova/Schmiedlova (134)

Of course also we don't know what :GER :CAN :AUS :TPE will decide, but if they only have 1 team each then it's possible for more teams after Burel/Parry to get in.

I also don't know if Mertens will play for example, but based on the above, here is the update for the cut-off:

:FRA Burel/Parry (107)

------------------------------------------------

:GRE Grammatikopoulou/Sakkari (112) - But Sakkari said she wants to play with Papamichail, but Papamichail/Sakkari would be 117 right now, so if they don't make it then I guess she will still try with Grammatikopoulou? I'm not sure.

:ITA Bronzetti/Cocciaretto (112)

:ROU Bogdan/Cristian (117)

:CRO Martic/Vekic (117 - will be 118 if Volynets wins today)

:ESP Badosa/Bouzas Maneiro (121)

:HUN Babos/Bondar (123)

Sumit Nagal :IND wins the Challenger tournament in Heilbronn, Germany. So, does that mean he qualifies for Olympics outright without waiting for further withdrawals??

Exactly as @evil bettysaid, we have to wait about Protected Ranking (Nishikori probably will use it, Cilic dunno), but Nagal is in the last spot and as of now is qualified to Paris. Anyways, if 2 or 3 players announces their withdraw sumit is in no matter what because there are not too many PR in the mens draw

Shapovalov was going to use protected ranking but has decided to rest his knee. https://tennistonic.com/tennis-news/720016/injured-denis-shapovalov-will-not-play-the-french-open-doubles-and-the-olympics/

Does Raonic still have a protected ranking and is there a chance he'll play? Otherwise that is one less doubles team and :GRE will for sure be in.

For Croatia we know following:

Pavic/Mektic plan to play.
Dodig wants to play with Cilic, which means Cilic will have to use his PR to make the cut, but will qualify him for singles as well.
Dodig plans mixed with Vekic as well if they make the cut.
Vekic/ Martic is not an option. Both want to play singles.
not sure about Coric if he will make the cut and if he wants to play at all

I saw that article too, although I’m not sure how accurate it is. Shapovalov has been playing at grass Challengers lately, why would he play in them if he was injured?

The article explains that. He says that it is the surface that is the problem and that he wants to be fit and ready for the grass court season to rebuild his rankings.

Cilic hasn't played in a very long time, I thought he was injured, is he going to be healthy again?

Dodig/Vekic would just miss out but there would probably be withdrawals. Without withdrawals, Pavic/Vekic would get in regardless. Is that not a possibility?

Is Martic/Vekic not an option because they don't want to play together or some other reason? They would be one of the first alternates right now after GRE and ITA2, so they probably have a chance to get in the draw. I don't think Martic can make it in singles unless there are a lot of withdrawals...

Are you sure Sumit is the last one now? I think Mensik is still qualified right now, behind Sumit.  I think Australia has only 3 qualified players (DeMinaur, Thompson, Popyrin).  O'Connell has not been in Davis Cup teams.  I think there is one extra spot available over the list we have here, and it goes to Mensik, right behind Sumit.

Can you confirm?  I don't see O'Connell in the Australia teams at DavisCup.Org.

They are sometimes lenient with the rules, especially for a country like Australia who has many great players and probably didn't have many opportunities to be picked for Davis Cup anyways because he had other countrymen ranked higher than him!

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
