Watching the GB trials this evening I see British Swimming have gone a bit nuts with their qualifying times for the World Champs - their qualifying time for the men's 100m was faster than the current British Record - so although we've had a few swimmers who have hit the official Olympic qualifying time, I don't think any of them will have hit the GB standard yet.

The qualifying times you're on about are there to "guarantee" qualification and will most likely only be used as an easy and fair way to decide who's going if more than 2 swimmers in an event reach the consideration times, which will be used to decide who's going to the worlds (even British Swimming are treating athletes that hit the consideration times as "going to Fukuoka"). We also get to choose up to 8 athletes who didn't hit the GB standard to go under the discretion of the Performance Director and Head Coach, with 30 athletes being the total limit.

With Japan qualifying two athletes in the men's 200m breaststroke today, the men's 100m breaststroke is the last event with no qualified athletes yet

British Swimming have now changed it so there is no limit on the number of athletes with the consideration time who can enter.

Women's 200m breaststroke

:NED Tes Schouten (2.22,21)

Although she was already qualified for the OG, Schouten swam a really good time and Dutch record on day 2 of the Eindhoven Qualification Meet. Like yesterday, there was only one performance worth mentioning.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
