So what the whole country was waiting for just happened, The Canadian coach Craig Ramsay and the general manager Miroslav Šatan announced the final 25 players roster for the home world championships.

The coaches had to remove from the list 3 players to make the final amount of 25. Sadly the dream has ended for the defencer Mário Grman and two forwards the experienced fresh czech champion with Třinec Tomáš Marcinko and the young talent and this seasons Slovak Extraliga MVP Samuel Buček, all three are scratched from the list now just 2 days to go...

Since Boston won the 2nd round NHL Stanley Cup Play-Offs we can not be reinforced by our "Bruins trio" Jaroslav Halák, Zdeno Chára and Peter Cehlárik, especially the absence of the goalie Halák is unfortunate for us, we were really hoping for him as our top netminder...but well, what can we do, now let´s hope and wish all the best and the triumph in the Stanley Cup for our trio.

Also the AHL Charlotte forward Tomáš Jurčo can not reinforce us, Charlotte is leading 3-0 in its AHL Calder Cup play-offs series (with Jurčo being in awesome shape lately--so it´s even more sad for us)..

so by this our team for the preliminary round is finalized.

We will have 6 NHLers and 3 AHLers in our team (the defencers Černák, Jaroš, Sekera, Marinčin and forwards Tatar and Pánik from NHL) + Marko Daňo who jumped this season from NHL to AHL and back and 2 AHL youngsters (Rybár and Studenič)

Worth to mention, we will have four U21 players in our team ! That´s definitely not something every coach will have guts to do for a home WCh ! The youngest being the 19 years old Adam Liška, followed by 20 years old Martin Fehérváry and Marián Studenič, Erik Černák is 21 years old.

The oldest will be the 39 years old (Currently the last SVK World Champion 2002 still playing) former NHL star and Košice legend Ladislav Nagy, who will finish his career at this tournament at his home city. ! What a moment this will be for our Laci Nagy.

Speaking about Košice,

4 Košice born players are in the team and will experience that incredible moment in their life to play the world championships in their birth city. The NHL Defencers Erik Černák, Christián Jaroš (both are btw cousins) and Martin Marinčin. + the already mentioned club legend the forward Ladislav Nagy.

The defencer Patrik Koch is another player with some connections with the host championships city, since he is player of HC Košice.

We played 9 preparation matches during last month with a final record of 4 W - 5 L

The start of the preparation wasn´t exactly successful with home defeat in Topoľčany the 4th April to Sweden 0-4, a week later 2 new defeats happened in Germany against the home team 1-2 and 1-3.

The first wins arrived at the end of the third week camp of preparation, with wins in both matches in Austria against the host team 5-1 and 2-1 PSO, The last Aprils preparation week camp finished with two home defeats in the "federal derby" to the Czech Republic 1-3 in Trenčín and 0-2 in Nitra.

In the last 2 weeks we had our final preparation training camps and two more preparation matches, winning both of them 6-1 in Poprad over Great Britain last weekend and 3-2 after Overtime yesterday against Norway in Michalovce.

Heinz Ehlers announced his 25 players roster for the world championships.

:DEN will have 2 reinforcements from NHL, with forwards Mikkel Boedker from Ottawa Senators and the Stanley Cup winner Lars Ellers of Washington Capitals.

the 2 other players from North American ice in the team are Joachim Blichfeld from juniors WHL and Mathias Bau from AHL Hershey Bears.

The remaining 21 spots are fullfiled with european based players, as usual, the largest part of them came from :SWE leagues (11 of them played in Sweden last season !)

Interesting to mention also the 4 KHLers in the team, all from Jokerit Helsinki !

Denmark played 7 preparation games last weeks with a record of 2 W - 7 L

The positive and promising thing for the Danes, is that the 2 wins came at the end of the preparation camps 1-0 in Norway and 3-1 in the last test match before the WCh in Austria.

Except the defeat in Norway in the last April weekend 3-4 OT, the team lost all first 4 games of their preparation period against the two Nordic powerhouses 0-1 and 1-2 at home to Finland and 2-3 and 0-2 to Sweden.

    • Basically, NOCs can attempt to qualify in additional events without gaining athlete quotas. For example, let's say a nation already qualified in the 4- and 4x, they can use the athletes they plan to send in those events and try to qualify in the 8+. That's where the extra coxswains will be used. If a nation intends to attempt to double-up they must let World Rowing know before the final qualifier regatta.   There's a good chance the quotas may not be used and will have to be reallocated. Looking at 2024, only  would have been eligible for the men while the women there's . With that said there's no guarantee they would have wanted to double-up their athletes.   In reality we are more likely to see the reverse, nations who qualified in the 4x, 4-, or 8+ doubling-up athletes for the 1x, 2x, 2-.
    • Hey everyone, how are you all?   Reading the qualification document here and the "3 quotas for additional coxswain" is very confusing to me. Can someone (try to) explain to me please how those quotas will be assigned?    Thank you so much
