Just watched the closing, I thought they wanted to imitate Misha in Moscow 1980 but Lesik just standing there and staring lol

But did you see the moment when the cult of Lesik took over the stage :p. There were too many of them, they’re going to start a revolution against the humans.

Right, finally time for the Games to begin? I've been waiting patiently for a while for the broadcasts to start, let's go :cheer:

Well you’ll be able to watch the Universiade and Pacific Games, so it works out in the end.

I wonder, is there any chance to have full replays of Minsk?

I haven’t found much yet, but if I do I’ll post them to in the replay section. Ukrainian (Inter TV) has a few on YouTube, but Russian (Match TV) has a good amount on their website if you have a vpn.

I think in a few months Olympic Channel might upload something.

You can try opening Channel One Russia's Odnoklassiki with Hola, they have the whole broadcasted sessions. I reuploaded badminton finals from there to YouTube.

(Olympic Channel is threatening copyright strike for those who reuploaded screen recordings from their website, for example the opening video is down)

They always want to imitate Misha from Moscow 1980. Only in 1980 it seemed like a spontaneous, emotional moment that made everyone cry. Sochi version (and apparently Minsk version) was nothing more than a cheap sentiment.

Sochi actually has a better chance to made it emotional again but I think they just scrapped it. I still remember they created the Sochi version of Do Svidanya Moskva (but I hated it when Alsou sang it)

Thanks!

Pitty that OC wont upload videos. Their coverage varies from excelent to non-existent one. Plus, they will claim copyright,so YT will probably delete those few uploaded events.

Not that i will miss eventual replays but seeing those few olympic events (shooting, table tennis) would be nice.

Official IOC channel YT started (maybe a year ago) uploading full events from previous OG (Rio, Beijing). They call it Throwback Tuesday.

From what I observed, they only claimed copyright from Olympic Channel broadcast maybe because it included their commentator. Those from Belarus TV or Channel one Russia (Russian or no commentary) stays intact.

A bit sad as nowadays multisport event videos at Youtube is decreasing, they claimed copyright here and there but refuse to reupload the events by themselves (yet keep concerning the lower interest)

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
