This was a frustrating session for :USA. Nice to break into the triple digits once more. I am getting tired of finishing just off the podium though.

It's been rough for non-European countries, this can be the third TISC in a row where we have an all European podium. We had 11(!) TISC in a row where we had at least one non-European country on the podium, but Annual 2022 broke that stat. Somehow I broke the contest for non-Europeans when I hosted last year. :d

Anytime that someone complains that it's impossible for someone to win, I always think back to HOW THE FUCK did Lithuania ever win.

And it's not like I haven't tried to replicate the success, but we've never seen a top 5 ever since :p

So, it's possible, you just need a miracle.

I mean, I am getting the impression that you have a significant number of English language songs to choose from. So technically Lithuania had a small, but still sizable chance to win some day. Hungary for example has a weird language and almost none of its artists make songs in English or in any of the popular languages. The chances of Hungary ever having a world famous singer is nonexistent.

The fact that you can't win with a song not in english... unless you're from Europe :p

Hey, Colombia almost did it at Open 2017. It's possible, all you need is... one of most well-known Latin American songs of the past 20 years. (and you probably still lose to Ireland)

I got curious about what are the top songs not in English per contest, just to see which nations have been most successful at sending non-English language songs. So for this break, here are the Top Non-English Language Songs per TISC:

Open 2022 - :GER - 4th place

Annual 2022 - :ESP - 1st place

Open 2021 - :FRA - 5th place

Annual 2021 - :ITA - 4th place

Open 2020 - :IND - 6th place

Annual 2020 - :CHN - 2nd place

Open 2019 - :HUN - 4th place

Annual 2019 - :FRA - 5th place

Open 2018 - :BUL - 5th place

Annual 2018 - :ITA - 1st place

Open 2017 - :COL - 2nd place

Annual 2017 - :SRB - 3rd place

Open 2016 - :FIN - 6th place

Annual 2016 - :ITA - 2nd place

Open 2015 - :GER - 2nd place

Annual 2015 - :ITA - 5th place

Open 2014 - :FRA - 3rd place

Annual 2014 - :GER - 1st place

Open 2013 - :ITA - 2nd place

Yep, I think you all guessed which nation had the most  number of Top Non-English language songs after 19 editions. :d

5 - :ITA

3 - :GER  :FRA

1 - :FIN  :SRB  :COL  :BUL  :HUN  :CHN  :IND  :ESP

7.33 PPJ for :DEN after 9 juries. They would get 271 points by the end of the contest with this average.

6.77 PPJ for :GER after 9 juries. They would get 251 points by the end of the contest with this average.

As I said earlier, really good first session for the Top2 songs.
