Also :ALG Carole Bouzidi advanced to semifinals in W K1 for the second time in a row after she succeed also last weekend in Prague. First time ever an African female paddler managed to advance from the heats in 2 consecutive WC races

I noticed last week there were two :IRL paddlers in one of the men’s finals: that can’t gave happened very often either.  [ @hckošiceproduces long list going back to 1922]

    • It's waaaay too expensive & inconvenient. Basically WOG minus the bobsleigh track & indoor arena for figure skating/hockey(which is the easy part of Olympic bid). Just won't happen anytime soon. Winter sports are too facility dependant and the entire alpine skiing requires a separate venue.
    • The ISU is looking into a combined World Championships for its 4 disciplines.   The FIS tried this and it appears the progress there has stalled.

    • Not religious, but I do celebrate Christmas because it's the time of excessive and delicious meals     I can't really think of any Dutch Christmas songs though, basically we hear Mariah Carey and WHAM! half the day and a collection of others the other half of the day

    • Also a first: never before has a Dutch pair participated in the games, according to media rapports.
    • The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.
