  1. also the qualification race is only for the Distance events, right ? I mean everybody is allowed to start in the Sprint I believe ?
  2. 2 new received the IIHF approval and are eligible from today to represent . Both will for sure play at the WCh in Latvia Shane Prince and Francis Paré are now fully eligible to play for at the world championships. Obviously it is still not over, the goalie Danny Taylor will fullfil the basic requirement to represent another country (to play there at least 480 days) this March. The federation already announced they will ask IIHF to accept him too.
  3. ah ok, make sense. CDI (International) CDN (National) well, one learn something everyday I guess Yes, sadly the international event is cancelled but it looks they somehow managed to set new date
  4. I had absolutely no idea such village even exist, I had to google a lot it looks it is a very small village in the Trenčín district but they often organized some minor and regional dressage and jumping events now for the race: what is the difference between CDI-W & CDN ? Because the CDI-W are cancelled for this weekend, however the Slovak Equestrian Federation asked FEI for the possibility to just postpone the event to late March. The CDN event will take place but without spectators and under obligatory testing this Friday

  6. You're welcome. Well, as I said, a lot of people were against the dissolution. Personally, I am also still sad about it. I am not even afraid to say that it was a criminal act of the politicians (Vaclav Klaus on the czech and fucking asshole Vladimir Mečiar on the slovak side) against the nation and its people.
  7. Yep, contact with a positive person, Koristek was already in a 10 days home quarantine in Slovakia until last Monday. sadly put last week on the black list, so we can not enter the country without forced quarantine. So we had like millions of problems with all papers, etc.. for just entering Deutschland. We will not have any special team staff in the WCH, only 2 guys will travel with the coach, so we will have to pay for our skis to bewaxed by & teams servicemens... Also our skiers were accomodated 30 km away from Oberstdorf, so they will spend all their time only by travelling to the stadium and to the testing centers... nah... article in slovak, if you are interested...try google translator https://sport.aktuality.sk/c/484984/ms-v-severskom-lyzovani-narocne-podmienky-a-specialne-vynimky-slovaci-chcu-postup-z-kvalifikacie/?AT=wgt.hp_hp-mohlobyvaszaujimat.c.x...A.1
  8. Big troubles in team..... Remove Renda and Cenek from the list. Slovakia will have only 3 athletes in Oberstdorf, 1 men and 2 womens. Ján Koristek will be our only male participant, our NOC somehow managed to obtain a special exemption to enter Germany through our embassy and various German regional hygienists for Koristek. So he was finally able to enter Germany yesterday. However, he must pass a test every single day he will spend in Germany. the other two had to stay in Slovakia, so no Team sprint for us. Koristek will start only in Sprint and 15km with eventual Skiathlon participation to be evaluated later n Oberstdorf.
  9. Exact. In fact both parts agreed to start competing independently in all sports right after the dissolution, but there was also one problem, in football. especially the 1994 FIFA WC in USA, the qualifiers started in 1992 with former Czechoslovakia still existing. but it was already known that only until the New Years Eve, so FIFA had to decide and formed a new team the RCS (Representation of Czechs and Slovaks) RCS (The teams sadly had no flag nor nations symbols) just a white flag something like today Russia in the world championships. Both anthems Czech & Slovak were played before the games. RCS was the very last team representing Czechoslovakia in any sport. Fun fact the team was just one single point from qualifying to the world cup in USA. imagine that 1 and half year after the country ceased to exist "Czechoslovakia" could still play together in a international event. Many many tears were in Bruxelles after that 0-0 tie the 17th November 1993. One chapter of our common history definitely finished, 11 months after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia Some polls said that more then 60 % of people were against the split, sadly the fucking politicians did not allowed any referendum and decided a couple of months before the 1993 new year about the break-up Anyway one other team named Czech and Slovak Republics also existed and played the U20 Ice Hockey team during the 1993 World Juniors, the tournament was held as usually during the christmas holidays, the team started as Czechoslovakia, the 30th December 1992 played 1-1 with Russia but since the 1st January suddenly lost its flag, nations symbols, anthem and was renamed Czech and Slovak Republics and the 2nd January defeated Japan 14-2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_World_Junior_Ice_Hockey_Championships
  10. It´s been a while I posted here some updates of the Olympic Medals so medal moments #4 Let today speak about one guy named Michal Martikán. Born in Liptovský Mikuláš, The kid was a special talent which later proved by making it to the national team at his 15 ! 1 year later in 1995 he won his first big major medals (2 bronzes at the World Championships in Nottingham in C1 and C1 Teams). He is also still the youngest athlete ever to win a World Cup race in the whole sport of Canoeing Slalom. but the next year was his first big career milestone. The 27th of July 1996. only 3 years after the split up of the former Czechoslovakia the young Michal won the first ever Gold Olympic medal of the new country. and the history showed that it was not his only success, Michal is arguably altogether with the french Tony Estanguet considered as the best C1 canoe slalom athlete of the history. He won 5 medals at 5 consecutive Olympic Games. An totally unprecedented achievement in this sport. 2x Gold (1996 Atlanta & 2008 Beijing) https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/video/detail/best-of-michal-martikan-beijing-2008/?uxreference=playlist 2x Silver (2000 Sydney & 2004 Athens) Bronze (2012 London) https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/video/detail/best-of-michal-martikan-london-2012/ The 4 times athlete of the year is also an absolute Big major events Medals record holder He won 49 Medals from Big Major events (Counting only : Olympic Games, World Championships and European Championships) !!! OG: 2 - 2 - 1 WCH: 14 - 3 - 6 ECH: 14 - 5 - 2 He also won 42 individual World Cup Podiums, 5 Overall World Cup Champion (Also the record among C1 paddlers) Now 41 year old He is still active and pretty much on the race for Tokyo 2020, currrently slightly behind Alexander Slafkovský and tied with the Rio medalist Matej Beňuš for the single quota in the C1.
  11. Due to the current ban of our Skiing federation Our National Olympic Committee was appointed by our governement and by FIS to officially send our delegation and to be the official representative institution of our athletes in this competition as well, so the Slovak NOC announced the roster for the World Championships Team Slovakia Men Ján Koristek (Sprint C, Team Sprint F, 15 km F, 50 km C Mass Start) Andrej Renda (Sprint C, Team Sprint F, 15 km F ?) 15. yeah, that last M slalom pretty ruined my whole contest. but, yeah, nevermind, everything is still just a practice for the ice hockey worlds after all, because, be sure this time Kamil is aiming for gold
  16. Btw she was not alone in the plane. Petra and her mini-team brought with them also one opponent Ana Bucik of all persons They will train slalom and giant slalom together on Monday and Tuesday in Jasná. The well-known Low Tatras resort will be the venue of the World Cup races in slalom and giant slalom in less than two weeks (March 6-7). "I am very much looking forward to the race in Jasná, but at the moment it is still far for me. I will focus on the next days on the speed races in Italy (val di Fassa). We will travel there on Tuesday, I will start in downhill and super-G. Until then, We decided to spend the next two days with training in Jasná with Anna Bucik, who asked me if she could fly with me on the plane. I didn't have a problem with that, " Vlhová explained to Slovak medias in the Poprad airport.
