The smallest delegation ever Sadly all our "A" team members are returning from injuries, Ján Volko, Emma Zapletalová, Martina Hrašnová, Gabriela Gajanová, Stanislava Škvarková (all declined their spots for the WCh and are entirely now focusing only for the Europeans) + Marcel Lomnický, Tomáš Veszelka and Michal Morvay are still injured and will not compete this year probably anymore. The rising star Viktoria Foster is still a bit behind the required qualifying level in both her events 100 & 100 Hurdles. But whole our team is focusing on the European Championships where it looks we will send a more than 20 atletes which will be the biggest delegation ever So for the worlds just a cosmetic participation with 5 Athletes Miroslav Úradník, Dominik Černý, Hana Burzalová and Ema Hačundová in Race Walking and Daniela Ledecká in W 400m Hurdles

I don´t know, Algeria organize regularly several international events, mainly various African championships but also global events like fencing world cup or so.. from what I remember people were always standing during the anthems, Perhaps people in Algiers are more used to such events. Anyway, I remember the same happened many times also during Rio Olympics, when you´ll rewatch some competitions from Rio you´ll see plenty of local (I assume based on most of them were wearing BRA football jerseys ) just sitting on their seats or jumping and waving to the cameras like morons during the anthem. That was definitely one of the most disappointing experience I had from otherwise generally amazing and very goodly organized olympics there.
