  2. I wouldn't expect 20+ people in this game simply because it requires more effort than just filling in X points for this or that team But I'm definitely in
  3. Yeah, I always find it hard when people switch nationality or are allowed to do so without being able to speak at least enough of the language to not depend on any outside help. But that's a whole different non-sports discussion +1 for Kuzmina indeed
  4. Geisenberger and Eitberger together in the Nations Cup, didn't think I'd live to see the day (yeah I know of course they didn't compete last season)
  5. Romania missing is a little surprising, I'm sure they were in those Swedish races last week or so? Ah, COVID. Not at all surprised by Greece, I believe Angelis is usually there, but Serbia is interesting.
  6. Also, don't forget to pick your team for the contest here everyone!
  7. Yep, always right after the Team Captain's Meeting (where the draw is done), which is usually held roughly between 17:00 and 19:00 local time. They do the draw at the TCM and once the TCM is finished, the lists are published rather quickly. Usually there is a PDF for the allocation of the shooting range for trainings a day earlier, which is usually mostly interesting in the IBU Cup to see if there's any new or rare nation participating
  8. Wow, a false start in either of the two runs means you're whole qualifying result doesn't count? What kind of stupidity is that? I know a false start = out in KO, but if you've had a time in run one and then a false start in run two, what on earth is the reasoning behind cancelling the time you already set?
  9. Where can I find those handy PDF's with results? The IFSC website does have a sort of results page, but it also functions as a live standings page, without saying whether or not the competition is finished yet, so that's not very useful
  10. What happened? I can't find anything on social media yet.
  11. DQ for Jarl Magnus Riiber in the PCR, he'll very much hope the jumping today won't be cancelled (not an unrealistic scenario in Ruka though). On the other hand, especially Manuel Faisst and Fabian Riessle will hope it does get cancelled after their very impressive PCR Just realize this is probably the first time since February/March I'm using the term PCR in the way that does not actually involve trying to poke someone's brain out
  12. To be fair, we've only had technical events so far this season. At least five of the next seven races are speed events By the way, just noticed something pretty cool: if all goes well, the Zagreb men's slalom will be the 500th World Cup men's slalom race in history And even better, nine days later the first of the Lauberhornrennen downhills in Wengen will be the 500th all-time men's World Cup downhill race, so a double jubilee within one and a half weeks
  13. That was some anticlimax at the end But other than that, pretty nice competition with lots of close races.
  14. Oh wow, as a fan of the sport obviously I always find it a little sad when a complete outsider just comes up shy against one of the always-there eternal main favourites, but damn, even more so when it would have been historical and it went wrong by only 0,04 seconds
  15. I don't know man, Julia is like a machine Too bad though, especially that they'll have to miss the whole Kontiolahti thing. One would say they can be (re)tested now and compete at least next week, but alright. Annoying when every country has their own rules
  16. Wow, 14th in qualifying for Jelinkova, that is a rather epic result for her Ok, that's where it will end considering the untouchable Vlhova is going to be her opponent But still
  17. Any info yet on who will be out? The whole team or possibly specific athletes?
  18. Wow. I mean, I think most people agree this was not exactly a highlight of the history of the FIFA World Cup, but focusing on that right now - even more so with a cover like this - is rather...low.
  19. I'm always glad to see Lesser in, but damn, I hope we'll one day see the old Schempp again. Starting to doubt it, but I hope so..
  20. Right, the final race in the Brazilian rollerski circuit 2020, at least the last one that will count in the standings. There will be another one in December, but due to that being a late addition basically just to help a specific athlete prepare for the season, it won't be counted in the standings. The women's 7,5km classic pursuit was of course won by @brunamoura, who had half a minute of a head start and despite having terribly slow rollerskis, even on the downhill they barely increased speed, managed to increase that gap a little: roughly 40 seconds towards Mika Picin at the finish, so the fastest time of the day as well. Bit of a lonely third place for Duda Ribera, who couldn't threaten Mika but also wasn't threatened from behind. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=36652 In the men's 15km pursuit, the podium finishers of the previous day came together: Victor Santos caught up with @Jesús and both of them caught up with leader Lucão Lima. This ended in a sprint finish, where Victor took revenge on the day before and sprinted to the win, which might be a sign for the federation that they're right in only sending him to Europe as far as men go. Second place for Lucão, our Chilean Totallympian finished in third. Fastest time of the day was for Yuri Rocha, who moved up from 8th to 5th with a time that was 15 seconds faster than Victor's. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=36651 Now that all is said and done, I'd say it was a good event with five good races. Some diverse results in the men's events, five wins for @brunamoura as revenge for suffering her first loss in ages last month and some heavy personal circumstances which people who paid attention to her social media will have seen. Despite all that, several PB's and convincing wins, while the top shape isn't even there yet - as it shouldn't be, that's for the end of February. On to the winter!
  21. Has there been a protest against Fakirianov's lead result? Just wondering, I didn't have time to read up on that and watch everything after the competition ended, but I did notice he seemed to stand on a bolt for a few seconds. The angle made it hard to see though, maybe he had his foot a centimeter or two above the bolt instead of right on top of it.
  22. I always wish they'd do these kind of things not as a reaction to someone's death, but when someone is still alive and can feel the honour. Same with the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam..
  23. What, apparently nine (!!) ambulances were sent to the emergency call.
  24. Described well on CNN: "Terribly sad news, if not particularly surprising." R.I.P., only one of the two eternal "who is the greatest player ever?" still alive now
  25. Right, so the whole top-10 thing isn't an issue anymore, great I think I greatly prefer the grade system.
