  1. Does anyone have a suggestion for a computer game (preferrably a browser one) to lose some anger and frustration?
  2. Which wouldn't make a difference, because it used to be done in the logical way, where you predict your things for a stage on the day of that stage (or the evening before or something). This all is just making this a bit of a joke of a prediction contest, simply because any sort of logic is gone and people who would predict stages based on how the competition is developing (like in basically every one of the millions of online contests for the Tour de France, and like it used to be here) have a distinct disadvantage now Oh and about point 3: Yes, the rules are different. Absolutely. And point 4: predicting matches for 5 weeks without being able to predict them as the tournament progresses is madness as well. Don't take it personal by the way, I think you're doing a fantastic job in taking over the role of prediction contest 'manager', I'm just sad that in the one contest where I actually have enough knowledge to make a difference, this thing with different rules than before (and illogical rules) happens. Since nothing was said about stage-by-stage predictions, I rather simply thought that meant it would be the same as usual: stage-by-stage predictions to be allowed. Nowhere was there any mention of this not being allowed, so it's sort of weird that all of a sudden...turns out it's not allowed.
  3. That's actually the normal part...........in the Youth Olympics
  4. Yes, I read those rules and editting is not allowed, of course. Day-by-day is an entirely different thing and was never mentioned which, like I said, could realistically lead one to believe that they were allowed (like in the past, like everywhere on internet, like logic would say). Nowhere was said that they were not allowed. Yes, we talked a lot about the deadline, which logically seemed to be for the general prediction standings. And no, it's not because of all the 'surprises'. I don't know why you would bring that up, because there are almost no surprises in this Tour. Sure, it's about fun, but there's no fun anymore when all of a sudden it turns out that the rules of your (my) favourite contest make no sense at all I'm 'complaining' now because now it turns out the rules are different than they have ever been and different than any kind of logic would dictate, and that's....no fun

  6. Azarenka is out
  7. To be fair, it's not like negative tests means someone isn't doping (there's the ever present system of microdosing for example, which is or at least was very hard to discover as long as you simply time the use right, like at night).
  8. Like they predicted on TV here: without Peter, Juraj would have a very hard time getting to the finish..
  9. I was gone?
  10. Which is quite odd as well, by the way. Although not so odd as having to predict a stage at the end of July already in the beginning of July, there's just no fun in that. Like that the advantage is for the people who have luck, where in every normal prediction competition you would make your predictions for the stages based on how the Tour is developing, who is in form or not, what you're expecting of a certain stage given the circumstances in other stages etc. Plus, besides all that, in previous Tour de France prediction contests it was done in the normal way: you can predict a stage until the day of the stage, like everywhere else on internet. Saying it's different only when specifically mentioned is quite unfair, because in that case there should be something high up in the opening post that says: "Day-by-day predictions allowed? YES/NO". Now there was no mention whatsoever that it was not allowed, which could realistically (with logic, history and everything else in mind) lead one to believe that it was in fact allowed.
  11. Magdalena Rybarikova in the quarter finals
  12. Well then this is by far the strangest Tour de France prediction contest in history (not only on Totallympics) Sorry, but it makes no sense. At all. Predicting general standings and such before the Tour starts makes sense, of course, but having to predict up to three weeks of stages 1-2-3 weeks before they are actually held? No, that's......no words. It's like a Fantasy Diamond League competition where you have to enter all your predictions for all of 2017 before the start of the first meet. Or a Premier League (football) prediction competition where you have to predict all 38 (?) rounds of play before the very first match starts. I'm sure it exists, but it makes no sense whatsoever.
  13. Especially women's nordic combined is a good addition in my opinion. It's in the very, very early stages so it's way too early to have a serious competition at the Olympics yet, but for the Youth Olympics, a sport where the main issue is that everyone is still very young would actually be the perfect way to make a sport grow.
  14. More like a tennis event where there are two athletes both fulfilling separate roles.....oh wait, there is
  15. Women's mixed NOC 3x3 ice hockey tournament, women's doubles luge, women's nordic combined etc at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics. https://www.olympic.org/news/ioc-executive-board-confirms-gender-equality-and-more-innovation-for-winter-youth-olympic-games-lausanne-2020
  16. I remember it was day-by-day, because I remember setting my alarm every day to enter my predictions I was convinced it was allowed, because of pure logic and because of previous contests, but alright. It'd suck monkeyballs if suddenly it's not allowed this time, there goes my main chance for a gold medal
  17. I'm not sure, but I do believe for example Klichina was cleared pretty early because she mostly lives in the US?
  18. Thanks to bestmen in the athletics thread, we've got the entry list
  19. Everyone suddenly of course lives in clean countries like the US, because of the green card lottery
  20. In the laws of logic, and I believe there was talk about it earlier in this thread and/or the Tour de France thread. It's been working like this for a long time, including in other Tour de France predictions (not sure if there was one last year, otherwise it was the year before) and with other events like biathlon world championships, where of course you're not required to predict every event before the start of the championships.
  21. Apparently you have missed the part where Kuchina got married, became Lasitskene and has been competing as a neutral athlete in international competitions for quite some time now, absolutely dominating the women's high jump while coming only 3cm from the world record?
  22. Normally I'd love to watch both, but U18 WCH this year is sort of a B-tournament because of the many absent nations and European U23....I don't know, if it's live on TV I'll watch it (and in the end I'll end up watching U18 WCH as well of course )
  23. It is allowed, the deadline for the stages is the start of the stage. Which makes sense, because it would be seriously weird to have a prediction contest for a 3 week competition and then having to predict all stages even before the start
