  1. Women's junior ITT just started, both Sporza ( ) and UEC have a live stream. https://www.uec.ch/en/actu/288/live-streaming-2024-uec-european-road-championships
  2. That is awesome Seems like it was a quite fun night for the neutral observer, Colombia beating Argentina, Bolivia beating Chile, Paraguay beating Brazil
  3. Right. I would be in favour of also having seperate medal events for the speed skating allround and speed skating sprint classifications
  4. But how? I've seen basically all World Cups and major events in the past 6-7-8 years or so, but the team event is usually the easiest one to skip through when watching later Not like it is never exciting, but it doesn't really add much. The only thing that is actually different is sitting up to hit the paddle, apart from that it is simply a few consecutive runs put together. Of course it needed to be there, because every sport 'needs' a (mixed) team event for whatever reason.
  5. Makes me wonder how that works for them, financially. Especially something that, internationally, is a rather obscure sport would surely benefit more from their biggest events being widely available to a global audience, instead of hidden behind a pay wall? World Rowing did a much better job for example, their more obscure event, like last weekend's coastal rowing world champs, was available in it's entirety and for free on their YouTube channel, which is an excellent way to try and gain a bit of new audience..
  6. Why are these events so confusing? Like, there's three events and judging by the names alone, women are allowed to play in all three of them? Seems like it should be the way luge did it: the doubles was an open event until very recently. Then the women's doubles were added and, logically, the open event became the men's event.\ Seems like there is only a few random matches available to watch by the way https://www.youtube.com/@ultiworld/streams
  7. If flawed ranking systems are a reason to kick a sport out of the Olympics, we'd lose more sports, like alpine skiing
  8. Good, because it's a rowing world championships
  9. Not team ski cross And that's coming from someone who absolutely loves watching the ski cross. Team ski cross just adds nothing at all. Whereas athletics relays make for an entirely different dynamic (a 4x100 is a very much different event than the 100m and results are entirely different than if you'd just add up everyone's 100m times), the team ski/snowboard cross is literally just two team members doing their runs back-to-back with no direct exchange or anything. Just like the luge team event adds nothing at all
  10. Oh absolutely, just trying to think of any somewhat valid reason not to score a run. My preference for sure would be to simply score all runs.
  11. If run one has a fall on the third hit and run two on the fourth hit, it's very much still in need of scoring both runs to see which one scores best. In terms of the overall, finishing 7th or 8th definitely makes a difference. The only time a second run might not be scored is if run one was entirely clean (or at least didn't have a fall) and run two did have a fall.
  12. Nobody really says that though, and definitely nobody wants that Fact is, however, that more and more 'traditional' venues will leave the calendar because we as humanity as fucking up the climate.
  13. This was pretty fun to watch Coverage was fine, racing was fun, no problem at all.
  14. But how? Because to know whether run two was better, the scores need to be made anyway. It takes like 5 seconds extra to publish them.
  15. Meanwhile, Spanish bronze medalist in the women's T12 marathon was disqualified. Her guide got cramps a few meters before the start, she helped him up and with that let go of the tether/piece of rope that they had to hold together, leading to the DQ.
  16. Yet the world of global sports events just keeps going on and on without ever really stopping other than for like 1 or 2 days in late December
  17. Yeah I don't remember seeing that neither, odd. It's not like the run is invalidated and so not scored (like for example a discus thrower who feels that a throw is not good enough and just steps on the line to avoid letting the officials measure the throw for no reason). The run is scored, so, you know....show the score. What's even more odd, according to this: https://www.interschools.com.au/news/2024-slopestyle-rules-and-competition-guide That's even weirder I mean, technically a 'Did not improve' for the second run is annoying, but correct. A 'did not improve' for the first run however, just isn't correct, since the first run is done, you know, first
  18. Didn't know Duncan Mackay had fallen from a pretty serious journalist to throwing around meme-level stuff Seems like a last year kind of thing mostly? Judging by the results where the points are coming from, most of which are from last year. Plus most of the top ranked athletes there weren't in the Olympics I think. Doesn't exactly look like the 'main' world ranking
  19. And that's the end of Robert Gesink's career, wonderful career of a truly wonderful athlete
  20. Going to be gold and silver for Morocco in the women's T12 marathon (visually impaired), where the silver medal winner is running with a one-armed guide Have not seen that before, a guide who also has an impairment.
  21. Literally the last day of the Paralympics and it still took me like 10 minutes to understand this was a Paralympic record and not a 'personal record' (which I know is PB in English, but in Dutch is always abbreviated as PR and it just got too stuck in my mind ) I mean, I've been seeing 'PR' (as in, Paralympic record) a billion times this week in swimming and athletics, one would think I'd have learned by now.
  22. Third consecutive marathon title incoming for the phenomenal Marcel Hug Nobody even comes anywhere near him.
  23. Congratulations is having it's most succesful Paralympics in terms of medals I'd say as well. There were more in 1988 and a lot more in 1984, but I wouldn't count those as 'more succesfull', considering there were a ridiculous amount of classes and categories to win medals in (literally hundreds more than now).
  24. Does anyone have any idea of which albums (by which artists) numbers 6, 14 and 16 are the cover? For example, number 3 is from Queen's album 'Queen', number 15 is Santana's 'Festivál', and so on. Just 6, 14 and 16 are still missing, so if anyone has any clue... Edit: 16 turns out to be a local Dutch band 6 and 14 are left..
  25. Isn't there any measure that can be put in place against these spammers? I mean, spammers are always gonna be there, but the last few days it's been rather extreme
