  2. however, looking at the men's -73kg OQR, Today's competition didn't bring anything new to the standings Today's Gold medallists Weerapon Wichuma (349kg Total) was already high in the ranking, but of course now goes even higher, in 2nd place the only new entry in the Top 10 is Today's Silver medallist, Wei Yinting (337kg Total), who climbed the ranking up to 7th place, consolidating position, as they were only 10th after Chen Lijun's effort in the -67kg a couple of days ago now the last above the qualification line is Muhammed Furkan Ozbek with 334kg Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Mirko Zanni, who didn't participate in today's event (even if he was regularly registered in Group A) because of a knee injury that made the Italian coaches take the decision to pull out at the last minute to preserve him from aggravating said injury, is still in the 9th useful place and he should pay attention to what's gonna happen in the next months if he doesn't want to miss the Paris Games
  3. yeah, I guess this is the first ever Group C champion (while we've seen a few from Group B, even the Olympic Champion -the great Om in London) by the way, 5th and 7th overall are from Group D imho, not good for the sport, though and I have to say that Wichuma might be sensational, but I fear Thailand haven't learned the lesson from the previous suspension
  4. old samples can be legally tested until 8 years after they were collected, so those of 2012 are now "legally dead" and actually they should have been destroyed after the end of the period they have to be kept by law
  5. so, we need to hire an exorcist as the new president of the volleyball federation
  6. however...this is the Olympic Events Medal Table so far 3 / 1 / 1 3 / 1 / 0 1 / 1 / 0 1 / 0 / 1 0 / 2 / 0 0 / 1 / 2 0 / 1 / 1 0 / 1 / 0 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 this & domination doesn't look good at all (sorry British and Dutch friends )
  7. it will never happen...Italy are definitely too weak to be an OQP contender tomorrow could lose the quota place only if they fall into the water like the men's German LW Doubles in the semis
  8. yes, it looks that's still the case but the main problem (with the non-Olympic classes being cut off the program year after year) is that they also live a parallel life where the Eight is the dream boat, they sacrifice almost everything to that also this year, we could easily have a stronger Fours (that would have qualified without any problem) and our biggest talent Di Mauro in the single scull (with medal ambitions, not only a miserable OQP), but no...they had to waste a lot of talent in that fuckin' Eight (which didn't even make the final, as I expected) and also among the women, it's the same (sure, they are in the final, but only because there were only 5 more competitive boats at the start...tomorrow they will finish dead last at least 20 secs behind the medallists) I'm really furious about that
  9. well, also is going to the OQT with their B team (and Z coach )
  10. here we go! another (expected) epic fail by our Olympic champions no Paris also in this class...well done, girls (and staff)!!!
  11. +87kg is a lock because the super-heavyweights are the most prestigious category then, I think they will look at how safe the gold medal is (with an eye of regard for the big names, if they can)
  12. shame! shame on those 2! rowing, football and rifle & pistol shooting right now are the true black sheep of our sport compared to tradition, number of people practicing and investments, rowing should completely change the men in charge of the federation and of the team and the athletes, especially the women, have to completely change their attitude...it's obvious that they just don't train enough and hard enough

  16. and just lost to the Asian Champs final, so...don't underestimate the Thai girls however, I think in the end & + & + & / will be the lucky 6 if there will be some upsets, it's going to be beating and/or beating I don't see any other "small" team doing it
  17. lots of things basketball world cup, weightlifting worlds, rowing worlds, rugby worlds, volleyball europeans and it's also the baseball regular season's final month in MLB, NPB and KBO, meanwhile the NFL season started just last night that's too much, I know...gonna come down to some compromise, I fear
  18. the women's -59kg class was won by Luo Shifang with 243kg in the Olympic Total (107 in snatch and 136 in C&J, both scores good for gold also in the single disciplines) with this win and this mark she also consolidated the lead in the OQR today's silver medal went to Kamila Konotop with 236kg in the Olympic Total bronze instead was won by Pei Xinyi with 232kg, just ahead of the Olympic Champion from Tokyo, Kuo Hsing-Chun with 231kg however, there weren't many changes in the OQR in this weight class, with the only notable moves being the huge improvement by Rafiatu Lawal, who ended today's competition in 6th place and climbed the ranking up to the same 6th useful place and Nina Sterckx moving up 11 kilos and placing herself into the 10th useful place in the OQR, dropping Dora Marie Tchakountè out of the provisionally qualified lifters
  19. are you sure it wasn't already over when you posted? (it started at 6 p.m. CET)
  20. here we go again... that bunch of idiots managing the Italian Rowing team tried for the billionth time to pursue the dream of having a competitive Eight and they missed out once again but what's even worse, they blew many qualification chances in doing that and therefore, despite a record that might look very good on average, we're now approaching the moment that many (myself in first place) feared: the lowest point ever in the glorious history of the sport I'm officially disgusted by our officials, coaches and also by many athletes, who did show a really bad attitude and lack of fighting spirit since the preliminary heats
  21. Chen Lijun dominated the men's -67kg class with 333kg in the Olympic Total Eko Yuli Irawan finished in silver medal position despite lifting in Group B with a Total of 321kg bronze went to Gor Sahakyan with 312kg in Total this isn't an Olympic weight class and Today's scores won't impact on the connected -73kg class, except for Chen Lijun's 333kg, which would put him just in the last qualifying position (amazingly, he's the best Chinese lifter in that ranking so far ), dropping Julio Ruben Mayora Perna below the qualification line
