  1. 2023 Japan Series Game #1, Hanshin Tigers b. Orix Buffaloes 8-0 in Osaka game details https://npb.jp/bis/eng/2023/games/s2023102801856.html Game #2, Orix Buffaloes b. Hanshin Tigers 8-0 in Osaka game details https://npb.jp/bis/eng/2023/games/s2023102901857.html Series tied 1-1, now the teams switch to Nishinomiya for games 3, 4 and 5 starting next Tuesday, October 31st (first pitch @ 6 p.m. local time, 10 a.m. CET)
  2. game #29, thrashed by 100 runs had a poor offensive inning (for their standard), scoring only 229/9 in 50 overs therefore it looked that could have a chance to upset the Host Nation, but their batsmen proved completely spent and the Indian bowlers instead were on fire (especially Shami and Bumrah) so, only scored 129/all out in just 34.5 overs in the 2nd inning and the match was quickly done and dusted for this is the 5th loss in 6 matches, which puts them in the last place of the standings...really humiliating situation for the reigning champions game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102769 Tomorrow, game #30 is a clash between and at 9.30 a.m. CET in Pune
  3. so, out of 16 events, we have 26 Nations from 4 Continents (5, if we split North and South America) winning at least 1 medal and 10 of them winning at least 1 Gold medal only Continent out of the medal table is Oceania just for fun: men's Team Kumite had 46 entries, women's Team Kumite had 55...55!!! not even the 4*100m Relays at the Athletics World Champs had so many (in the years when there was a basically free entry, of course) the women's Individual events had a minimum of 54 up to 61 entries, the men's range went from 61 (only the +84kg) to 74 (4 out of 6 events went over 70) but Karate doesn't deserve the Olympic status, meanwhile Lacrosse and Flag Football and Breakdance do...sure!
  4. Final Medal Table 4 / 1 / 1 2 / 2 / 4 2 / 2 / 1 2 / 0 / 3 1 / 2 / 3 1 / 1 / 1 1 / 0 / 0 1 / 0 / 0 1 / 0 / 0 1 / 0 / 0 0 / 2 / 5 0 / 1 / 1 0 / 1 / 0 0 / 1 / 0 0 / 1 / 0 0 / 1 / 0 0 / 0 / 2 0 / 0 / 2 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1 0 / 0 / 1

  6. my prediction...the Games will be cancelled because we have only a bunch of idiots leading our government and our institutions...and because the IOC is led by the idiot most idiot of them all
  7. Laura... unfortunately, she wasted her best boulder in the qualification round...if only she could repeat that kind of performance today, she would have got the OQP
  8. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/former-nhler-adam-johnson-dies-after-freak-accident-during-game-in-england/
  9. game #28, beat by 87 runs basically a no contest, the team scored only 229/all out in the 1st inning, but never gave the idea of being even close to complete their chase and in fact they stopped at 142/all out in 42+ overs in the 2nd stint after the very emotional Oceanian Derby, this match was good just to take a quick sleep in the mid of the afternoon (European time) game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102743 Tomorrow, game #29 features the Host Nation vs the reigning champions, vs at 9.30 a.m. CET in Lucknow under normal circumstances, this would be a not-to-be-missed matchup, but given situation, only the "name" of a great rivalry remains, which takes a lot of hype away from the game
  10. Shiffrin and Odermatt should win it easily, if nothing "strange" happens
  11. the Individual events are over...and and all have won 2 Gold medals, meanwhile the remaining 4 titles went to and out of curiosity, if Karate was still an Olympic sport, and would have won an Olympic Gold, together with or , or , or and or
  12. so, just 1 silver and 3 bronze medals (2 in Kumite) for and Tomorrow's team events won't change the general perspective of this championship for us: it's the worst performance since a very, very long time a true disappointment, especially by the most consolidated "names" among our Kumite specialists more in general, we had another match ended with high drama like in the first session of the day: the great Steven Dacosta saved himself the gold medal exactly like Abdelaziz earlier, thanks to the final hit by Dulovic coming a fraction of a second too late Tomorrow the World Championships end with the Team Events medal matches
  13. 14. what a match!!! in game #27, just edged out by 5 runs in an amazing record-breaking clash of Titans went out red hot and led by Travis Head's "century", they scored a crazy 388/all out in 49.2 overs in the 1st inning it looked that their lead was quite comfortable, but didn't think so and in the 2nd inning started a furious chase, which remained short of only 5 runs, as they went 383/9 in 50 overs remarkable "century" also for the New Zealander Rachin Ravindra this match improves the numbers of the early clash between and and with 771 total runs establish the new record for a ODI CWC match game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102768
  15. high drama in the men's -75kg Kumite Gold Medal match, as local hero Gabor Harspataki was 3-2 down with a few seconds left when he looked to have pulled out a miracle and found a 3-point projection that would have given him the Gold Medal but unfortunately for him, the final action came just outside the time limit, when the clock already had all 0s on and therefore Abdelaziz saved himself and won the gold medal among the women, 3rd world title for Zaretska, but tbh it was quite a robbery, given what happened in the last 15 seconds of the match, when Quirici was denied at least 2 good yuko (the scored was tied 4-4 at that moment) that would have put her ahead with very few seconds left on the clock, before Zaretska scored the final point
  16. Today's Medallists (Part I) Women's Individual Kata Gold: Hikaru Ono Silver: Grace Lau Mo Sheung Bronze #1: Paola Garcia Lozano Bronze #2: Terryana D'Onofrio Women's Individual Kumite, -68kg Gold: Iryna Zaretska Silver: Elena Quirici Bronze #1: Alizèe Agier Bronze #2: Georgia Zefanya Ceyco Women's Individual Kumite, +68kg Gold: Ayaka Saito Silver: Maria Torres Garcia Bronze #1: Clio Ferracuti Bronze #2: Shaaban Okila Menna Men's Individual Kumite, -75kg Gold: Mamduh Abdelaziz Abdalla Silver: Karoly Gabor Harspataki Bronze #1: Ernest Sharafutdinov Bronze #2: Andrii Zaplitnyi Men's Individual Kumite, -84kg Gold: Youssef Badawy Silver: Mahdi Khodabakhshi Bronze #1: Valerii Chobotar Bronze #2: Mohammad Aljafari Men's Individual Kumite, +84kg Gold: Mehdi Filali Silver: Tarek Mahmud Taha Bronze #1: Djorde Tesanovic Bronze #2: Sajad Ganjzadeh
  17. after Tonight game #1 of the MLB World Series goes on stage, Tomorrow (11.30 a.m. CET) it's time also for the NPB to start their finals, the Japan Series 2023 after dominating their respective league in the Regular Season and in the Climax Series (the LCS, to use the same name of the MLB), this year's showdown is the highly anticipated Kansai Derby, where the reigning champions, Osaka Orix Buffaloes face the Hanshin Tigers from Nishinomiya like all the major leagues' final series, it's a best-of-7 series with the classic 2-3-2 format
  18. almost, but not quite! saved their ass vs earlier Today in a match that was apparently locked for them, but suddenly became a real thriller in the last 10 overs of the 2nd inning, when the South Africans got short of wickets and the Asians went so close as nobody thought to an amazing "remuntada" game #26, edged out by just 1 wicket scored 270/all out in 46.4 overs in the 1st inning, then was comfortably on their way to easily complete the chase, but when the last pure hitter, Aiden Markram, went out in the 41st over, a dripping began for them, as the last batsmen couldn't hit a boundary helped also by a few "wide" and by a controversial "umpire call", finally could finish their job thanks to most unexpected hero with a bat in his hands, Keshav Maharaj, who found the last runs to complete the chase and take the victory home the final score is 271/9 in 47.2 overs game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102742 Tomorrow, games #27 and #28 are on stage: first, the great Oceanian Derby, the highly anticipated clash between and at 7 a.m. CET in Dharamsala; then, faces at 10.30 a.m. CET in Kolkata

  20. *I think it's difficult to get this one right, as the guy is suspended for doping
  21. I mean that forcing a young talent like him to retire not to compromise his mental health because he feels that he's not being treated like he deserves by an institution that's supposed to protect their "assets" rather than getting them so uncomfortable is absolutely an awful story (I didn't even read the whole article, I was just thinking of this situation in general terms)
  22. and the disaster continues... both the women and men's teams (the boys are the reigning champions) in Kumite have already been eliminated in the early rounds (even if the men could still enter the repechage for bronze if make it through to the GMM -currently they are playing their semifinal match vs )
  23. some details (awful story) https://www.eurosport.com/alpine-skiing/solden/2023-2024/lucas-braathen-norwegian-world-cup-slalom-champion-announces-retirement-from-skiing-aged-23_sto9855135/story.shtml
