  1. Nesim Amsellek (Athletics, middle distance specialist) was banned for 3 years by the Italian anti-doping agency after testing positive for an undisclosed (so far) substance... his suspension will end on July, 18th 2025... https://www.oasport.it/2022/08/atletica-nesim-amsellek-positivo-al-doping-azzurro-squalificato-per-tre-anni/ (in Italian)
  2. yes...that's correct... losing the challenge, it's not CAN to lose a point also, it should be a point given to SA (I haven't watched the match, so I don't know what really happened)...
  3. 2022 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup ( Red Deer, Alberta) Day #6 Schedule (Saturday, August 6th) Bronze Medal Match Czech Republic vs Finland (Noon local time, 8 p.m. CET) Gold Medal Match Canada vs Sweden (4 p.m. local time, Midnight CET)
  4. 2022 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup ( Red Deer, Alberta) Day #5 Results Semifinals Sweden b. Czech Republic 6-2 (1-0, 2-1, 3-1) Canada b. Finland 4-1 (1-0, 1-0, 2-1) 7th/8th Place Match Switzerland b. Germany 4-1 (2-0, 1-0, 1-1) 5th/6th Place Match USA b. Slovakia 4-2 (2-1, 1-0, 1-1)
  5. by the way, finally Italy is on the medal table after a week of fails and negative performances... Rachele Mori (niece of Fabrizio Mori, 400m Hurdles world champion in 1999 and still Italian record holder over the distance) filled her contract and as expected destroyed the field in the women's Hammer Throw, winning by a 4.5 meters margin in a very difficult night... and Marta Amani improved herself up to 6.52m in the last effort of the women's Long Jump competition to reach an unexpected bronze medal...
  6. c'mon! yesterday's event in Cali was heavily conditioned by the rain and especially by the 90-min stoppage after 2m10cm... when they restarted the competition, there was just 1 jump out of 18 clearing the next hight (the game winner by the Jamaican guy) because of the horrific conditions... starting the competition, there were a few guys with PB well beyond 2.20, more than one going beyond 2.25 already... we can say that yesterday's race doesn't reflect at all the technical value of the entire age class... that said, we all know that Holm is very good and coming...but you just can't compare events held in such different places, environmental conditions and psychological pressure...
  7. probably they're less expensive than US and Canadian... and more comprehensible to the international audience than Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans (the worst of them all)...
  8. both he and Martens will be in Rome... it remains to be seen what kind of shape they are in right now...
  9. considering his natural speed, if he's in good shape and if he pace himself correctly (and this is a big if...), I'd be surprised if he doesn't go below the 3.45 mark...
  10. I saw that the Swedish public TV (SVT) will be live basically all day long... never seen such kind of coverage on general channels... SVT play is available with vpn, of course, for those outside Sweden... I named especially this provider because it's by far the one with the best picture quality among all the public TV sevices around Europe (talking of online service, not TV channels)...
  11. British Triathlon policy is the one and only to be followed... otherwise we can cancel the women's sport...
  12. forget about Tebogo! this is the true top story from the junior worlds! the Italian decathlon specialist Alberto Nonino ended up dead last in the decathlon's 400m run because of a hilarious wardrobe malfunction...he had to prevent many times during the race his penis hanging outside his running shorts! he made the news not only in Italy, but all around the world... https://www.udinetoday.it/social/pene-fuori-pantaloni-atletica-4-agosto.html don't worry...it's a fully censored video...
  13. not apparently...no Ganna, no Milan, no Consonni...
  14. NHL preseason begins Sept. 24 with Senators-Maple Leafs doubleheader Fifteen-day schedule includes neutral-site games, Hockeyville Canada, Predators-Sharks in Prague https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-preseason-begins-sept-24/c-335171000
  15. Yes, it's confirmed...the all-around medals will be awarded after the qualification event...
  16. yeah, if you look at the powerhouses in both Rowing and Canoeing, only Germany and New Zealand are as good in both disciplines, with Poland and Australia trying to keep the pace, but still much more committed to one of the 2... even Countries like USA, Great Britain and Italy are heavily unbalanced towards one of the 2 sports (in that case, Rowing)...meanwhile Hungary, Russia and Belarus are almost inexistent in Rowing (having just a few one-hit wonders rather than consistent programs)...
  17. yeah, I saw some pictures from a few matches... first, it's just unwatchable on tv... second and most important, it causes a lot of turnovers, with players losing the handle with no point or explaination... the game loses a lot in terms of general quality... I hope they make up their minds and get back to the old ball as soon as possible...
  18. 2022 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup ( Red Deer, Alberta) Day #5 Schedule (Friday, August 5th) Semifinals Czech Republic vs Sweden Canada vs Finland 7th/8th Place Match Germany vs Switzerland 5th/6th Place Match USA vs Slovakia

  20. he also just recorded the first ever sub 20 secs at the junior worlds ever in the heats...
  21. is it just me or does someone else think that Tebogo was heavily unfair and lacking respect to his collegues last night? I mean, you might be the fastest man on earth, but class is just another thing... and if I were in the Jamaican guy, I can't be sure I wouldn't give him a beat just after the race...
  22. well, not that I don't agree with you (I always sustained that Canoe should take a distance and use only that as the olympic distance -500m or better, 1000m for all disciplines), but I also have to notice that the men's K1 200m is the only race where we won a medal in the last 4 Olympics...
  23. very good heat by our men's C2 (likely, our best chance to qualify to Paris...the new set of boats really killed us, with no more men's K1 200m...)...
  24. 2022 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup ( Red Deer, Alberta) Day #3 Results Group A Sweden b. Switzerland 9-3 (3-1, 3-1, 3-1) Canada b. Slovakia 9-1 (2-0, 4-0, 3-1) Group B Finland b. Germany 4-1 (2-0, 2-0, 0-1) Standings Group A Canada, 6 pts (2 GP, 23 GF, 1 GA, +22 GD) Sweden, 6 pts (2 GP, 13 GF, 4 GA, +10 GD) Slovakia, 0 pts (2 GP, 2 GF, 13 GA, -11 GD) Switzerland, 0 pts (2 GP, 3 GF, 23 GA, -20 GD) Group B Finland, 7 pt (3 GP, 11 GF, 6 GA, +5 GD) Czech Republic, 5 pts (2 GP, 11 GF, 5 GA, +6 GD) USA, 3 pts (2 GP, 9 GF, 5 GA, +4 GD) Germany, 0 pts (3 GP, 4 GF, 19 GA, -15 GD)
  25. New Zealand 1-2 in the men's Mountain Bike race (Cross-Country)... Namibia with surprising bronze... p.s. really beautiful course (with a lot of people all around), better than some of the world cup regular stops...
