  1. in the end it's not that bad...broken collarbone and concussion for her (but never lost consciousness, she was only a bit confused)... she should be released by the hospital before tonight...
  2. really bad, horrific crash by Letizia Paternoster in the women's elimination race...carried out on a stretcher, hope the damages are limited (but it didn't look good at all)...
  3. as far as I know, there are 2 different crews, one for the International feed and one for the Italian home broadcast... the International feed director most likely has never been involved in any swimming tv production, because the only national meets broadcasted on our TV are our National champs and the name of this week's director is not the same of our usual swimming broadcasts... by the way, I agree with you and @Grassmarket...awful tv production in all the sports so far...
  4. the average urban viewer might like the speed event, with its 5-sec races...surely not lead and/or boulder competitions with their 2-hour sessions...
  5. HUN chances gone...
  6. they will get more...tomorrow they have another gold already in their pocket with the women's Boulder (always thanks to Janja ) and they could also get medals in both the men's Boulder and Lead (actually, it's highly likely they get a medal in the men's Lead)... p.s. sorry for all the Hungarian friends, but I fear the men's Triathlon is going to be a French clean sweep...
  7. the only good news about that is that Filip Schenk is surprisingly among the 6 finalists!
  8. gone! game over for him...not enough time to make another serious attempt...
  9. half a miracle by Cornu (FRA)...he somehow got a zone...but he desperately needs to top the section to make the final... he has an attempt left...
  10. how to ruin a competition... in the men's sport climbing boulder semifinal round they've set a really, really difficult course...too difficult... result, only Adam Ondra topped 2 of the 4 sections and only 8 of the 20 starters could top at least 1 section... actually, the 4th section has gone completely blank...not a single climber could hold even a single zone (when there's only 1 climber left in the whole competiton)... I think this is the first time it happens, for sure I've never seen or read anything close to that... what a shame!
  11. no, Tokyo was kind of strange regatta because of the weather conditions and because of some covid troubles (not to mention the awful basin)... in any case, here ROU and GBR are winning a lot of gold medals also because there are no AUS, NZL, USA and CHN, who normally take a lot of medals away from the European sides... moreover, for many teams this championship is just a trial for the upcoming world champs, where a lot of crews could/will be different...
  12. and she did it on that track...
  13. maybe if we manage to choose 4 good pairings, which is highly unlikely for us... however, last night it's been a nightmare to follow the team event, as the graphics didn't give any clue in the last 2 rounds (and I'm not mentioning the individual battle for the top 25 spots)... 0- for the tv production...
  14. well, a few years ago it wasn't like that...all the lightweights categories used to have a decent number of participants (and there was a full 6 boat program, Eights included)... right now, instead, 99% of teams only focus on the olympic classes...and if they really screw the LW doubles from the olympic games, the whole LW category is going to die (except for singles and double sculls, only ITA and GER still have some depth in the LW category)... I think in the next few years they're just going to cancel these events, as they did with others, which aren't in the program anymore...
  15. by the way, I have to say that maybe our friend @heywoodu is really right about the rules in the sport climbing's lead... they should really use the time as tie-breaker... you just can't have 4 people tied and determine the 2 going forward to the final based just on the previous round's result... as I wrote earlier, I know why they're doing it, but it's too unfair to the athletes...they must change the rules, especially now that they're an Olympic sport and have more media coverage and average audience than before...
  16. same here...you never see sport climbing or triathlon on our tv...but this time they get a lot of TV time... still, I'd like to have a better organization (and most times better broadcasters) by our tv, they always make a mess in their coverage...
  17. never trust the Italian weather forecast...
  18. don't worry, it's an easy 1-2 for HUN in the women's 400m IM... for what concerns Milak, it's not a problem, as the 100m fly semi is after the 100m free final...and Milak would qualify for the final even with just 1 arm...I mean, with a 51.5 the top 8 is more than safe...
  19. it wasn't the timing board, it was the starting device that got broken and made him slip badly...
  20. we're at 5 right now... waiting for a couple more tomorrow...
  21. looking at his recent (and less recent) outings, I think tomorrow he won't swim as fast as today (surely he's going to win with big margin, however)... the key is make him swim the first 50m too fast...the problem is that neither Miressi nor Grousset are that kind of swimmers...among the medal contenders, the only one who could try a kamikaze start is Milak, but he might choose not to do it in order not to put at risk a possible medal against the Italian and the French guys...
  22. maybe one day or another UCI will accept to get back to the good old 400m tracks (and you can find a lot of them in many European places...moreover, you can build football/rugby stadiums with that kind of track all around makin'it a lot less expensive as they would be multi purpose facilities)...
  23. meanwhile our public TV stopped the live broadcast to send a useless edition of the news (they have at least 6 or 7 a day, not that losing one of the minor editions would make any damage), missing all the semis of the women's 200m Back and the men's 100m Breast... in the next few days, most likely they're going to miss some finals (and possibly some Italian medals)... typical RAI...
  24. sure, according to the forecast, there's no chance of rain in the next couple of weeks at least... it was just a theoretical hypothesis...
  25. she's one of the mascots of the championships...there's also a male dog, a Terranova (60+kg ), both are life-saving trained dogs...
