  1. p.s. the correct traslitteration in western letters of the name of the Greek race walker is "Drisbioti"...
  2. Feige is in insult to the race walking discipline...please, stop her!!! p.s. it looks that Dr.Fuentes is back in charge...
  3. ah, OK...I know that...in Italy we call it "piagnisteo preventivo", preventive whining...
  4. it's because they know I can watch CT Sport, too (where Hockey is live since the beginning)...
  5. don't be so pessimistic...tomorrow you have the men's 20km race walk with Karlstrom and on Sunday the men's 800m with Kramer (who's not to be discarded for a medal)...
  6. so, the Romanchuk & Bekh are gonna be a happy family right now...Mikhaylo won the 1500m freestyle gold in Rome a few days ago and now Marina is on the verge of becoming European Champion in the women's Triple Jump (after the disappointing Long Jump yesterday night, when she was only 4th)...
  7. weather's too hot for my taste... I need fresh places...the Lofoten Islands might be the right place for me (I did even eat some codfish tonight -but I don't think my recipe was typical of those lands ...so, I'm 100% ready)... Iceland might be good, too...if only it wasn't so expensive...
  8. nope...it's Ukranian silver & bronze behind the Dutch undisputed gold...
  9. Abdelwahed was born in Italy from Egyptian parents, the Zoghlami brothers came in Italy from Tunisia when they were 2 years young... so, they have strong African heritage, but they're 100% Italians under both sports and social point of view...
  10. couple more news... finally, Nazem Kadri signs with...surprise, surprise...the Calgary Flames! 7-million/year for 7 years is the new deal...and the Flames send Sean Monahan to Montreal to make room for Kadri in the salary cap... https://www.nhl.com/news/nazem-kadri-signs-seven-year-contract-with-flames/c-335317582?tid=281072352 always in Montreal, but not for a good news... Carey Price, in fact, might be out for the whole season (at least his salary would not be counted against the salary cap, making 10.5 million free to find someone to replace him)... https://www.nhl.com/news/canadiens-price-unlikely-to-play-this-season/c-335318774
  11. California is the place to go, if you just can't avoid travelling to the USA... and you know why...
  12. Athletics, women's 5000m...well, some girls in this list are definitely not trustable at all, so basically it's down to a couple of names...my pick is Tirunesh Dibaba. Swimming, men's 1500m Freestyle...man, this list is full of champions...Hackett was phenomenal, Perkins was great, super-Greg is...super-Greg, but the "tsar" is still unmatched, therefore my pick is / Vladimir Salnikov. Judo, men's Half Lightweight...Uchishiba has won 2 gold medals, but Hifumi is on another planet, he has changed the game in this class... therefore, my pick can't be anybody else than Hifumi Abe. Judo, women's Half Lightweight...gotta resist to the temptation and hype over Kelmendi, but the right pick in this class can't be anybody else than Xian Dongmei, the only girl to win twice the gold medal in this class so far. Weightlifting, men's Super-Heavyweights...well, I used to be a super-fan of Andrei Chemerkin...and I've watched many other champions doing unbelievable things, but what Talakhadze is doing in the last few years is just special...so, my pick is Lasha Talakhadze.
  13. everything's still TBC, in any case... forecast is not that promising... and some swimmers are trying to make their voice heard and said that the races shouldn't be held with such kind of waves (Paltrinieri being the leader of them)... I was sure that the pool specialists were going to complain if we really went back to the old glory days of Open Water Swimming...
  14. tbh, bad weather is the last problem you can imagine to have in Central/Southern Italy in August... this time we can really blame only the bad luck...5 days of bad weather in 5 months...and it's just when the Open Water Swimming Europeans were supposed to be held... for what concerns the schedule, there's always some reason behind it...in Rome, they wanted to avoid the most possible chance for swimming and football to colllide, as the stadium is in the same area of the pools (and tennis courts) and when football plays, there are always a lot of traffic problems (not to mention those idiots making a mess around football games, which is always possible)...
  15. Tvorogal made it through to the apparatus final with the 6th score... Mészáros is also on top of the Floor standings (tied with the world champion, Nicola Bartolini)...
  16. oh, sorry for the misunderstanding...I thought you were talking of the clapping during the Anthem...
  17. still, it's not respectful of the solemnity of a National Anthem... nobody does that with any other Anthem...
  18. update on the Open Water Swimming situation... due to the bad forecast for tomorrow, the races have been rescheduled (once again) for Saturday and Sunday only. Saturday the men and women's 5k will start at 10 a.m. local time (CET) the men and women's 25k will start at 2 p.m. local time (CET) Sunday the men and women's 10k will start at 10 a.m. local time (CET) the Team Relay (2*2*1.25k) has been definitively cancelled...
  19. I explained what's going on with open water swimming and the bad weather of a couple of days ago in the swimming at the european champs thread...
  20. tbh, it was written in the tv program guide already yesterday...
  21. yeah, they are always a safe bet...
  22. well, that's bad news...
  23. wow! very close finish between Martinot-Lagarde and Martinez...and it's Martinez!
  24. but not the "true" hockey, the only one that really matters...
