Russia isn't doing that bad. If we exclude Sochi, which was an anomaly as a host nation, they had in 2010 only 3 golds, while in 2018 they were only 2. So they are having a better Olympics already, than those two, both in terms of gold medals and overall medals. And they were close in winning a few more, like the biathlon relay today, which Latypov threw away in the end, or the short track relay yesterday. Plus they have a few events to come in which they could get more golds, so i think they will pass some nations and settle around 5th-6th overall.
