  1. The Serbian guy did so well! I'm impressed! Too bad he had to make three giant circles before his dismount and only two are allowed without a penalty in execution.
  2. The Italian gymnast had a HUGE routine with a lot of difficult releases. Simply amazing!
  3. Soares tried to increase his difficulty and fell. Oh, well. At least he tried. He had zero chances of getting a medal if he didn't increase his difficulty, so he did the right thing (despite probably finishing last). Kitazono received a much higher score than he deserved. This is the first score I consider to be completely wrong in the whole competition. It's been fair so far (mostly), but Kitazono's score really killed it. He deserved 13.7 or less.
  4. Bachynska has so much potential, but she wastes it all the time.
  5. Puiu is a disgrace to Romania. I can't believe they didn't have someone better than her.
  6. This mixed teams format in table tennis is severely flawed. The Japanese team is playing against "Europe 1" team (Serbia and Sweden). The Serbian girl lost the first match, but the Swedish guy had a very convincing win in the second match. Then they are forced to play doubles against a Japanese pair who had the chance to train together for months. Really fair, yeah.
  7. A medal for Austria! Yes!!!!
  8. Scores in trampoline today are a joke. I can't believe it.
  9. China didn't seem to do veeeery well. He was good, though not as good as I would've expected.
  10. Noooo! Austrian gymnast just 0.045 behind the British gymnast. Brutal.
  11. What the hell was this score for the British guy? No. Just no.
  12. The Spanish boy did a FANTASTIC job now on the trampoline. Clean execution, high jumps, difficult skills. He got it all. I hope he earns a medal.
  13. In the end, everybody seemed to be overscored a little bit. I'd say they nailed the results. No question about the top 3. The podium was absolutely right. By the way, they have been doing an incredible job with the scores so far. Things were a little bit loose on vault, but since everybody was judged under the same criteria, the end result was perfectly right.
  14. What a shock. I thought Briones had absolutely no physical capacity to smile. So he does have a bit of a soul inside of him...
  15. This is it. Medal for Norway. Very well done!
  16. There's a real chance Norway will get a medal. This could be their first Olympic medal in gymnastics in almost 100 years. The last one was in 1920.
  17. Really sad. I was hoping he could pull up a surprise and get a medal.
  18. It's very interesting to see New Zealand, Norway and Argentina in a final in artistic gymnastics. Very unexpected. Vault scores seem to be too high. They should have been 3 to 4 tenths lower, actually.
  19. Romanian guy totally overscored in the first vault. Poor execution in the first vault, but a very difficult one. Second vault had a fall. Poor guy.
  20. The trampolinist gymnast from China won the gold medal even with a fall. I hate it when something like this happens. She had the best execution by far, but in my opinion a fall should heavily affect one's score, regardless of how well they have done in their routines.
  21. Wow, this is surprising. Very sensible decision. And Iran has achieved many great results in recent years. Off the top of my head, I can say Iran has three bronze medals at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships, one bronze medal at the Asian Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships, and other non-medal results such as a seventh place at the World Aerobic Gymnastics Championships and, as you said, the fourth place at the Asian Games. It's just a matter of time before Iran earns a medal at the World Championships at this point. In less than five years, probably.
  22. Thank you for the explanation. It was really comprehensive. And as a side note, the International Gymnastics Federation is quite pleased with Bouhlouzadeh as a picture with him on the podium is on the front page of their website (and here is the link to the full article about yesterday's finals).
  23. @MHSN I have two kind of random questions: what's the order of surnames in Iran and which one is the most important? For example, Portuguese and Spanish speaking nations usually construct names like this: first name + name of the family of the mother + name of the family of the father. But the most important surname is different: In Spanish speaking countries, a "shorter" version of one's name is first name + name of the family of the mother, while in Portuguese speaking nations it is first name + name of the family of the father. I'm asking this because I updated wikipedia and I credited the medal to the Iranian gymnast as Reza Hajlari, but someone changed it to Reza Bohloulzade.
  24. Silver for and their first ever medal at the YOG.
