  1. Well, technically, New Zealand provisionally qualified in both men's K1 events, but it is a fair assumption (at 99%+) that they will choose a bigger boat. Either way - Samoa is guaranteed to qualify in either K1 or K2.
  2. Apparently quota places were awarded in all events which started today. That would explain why all qualification contenders are always put together in heat 1. Anyway, quota allocation seems to be as follows... Men's K1 1000 m - Samoa Men's K2 1000 m - New Zealand Men's C1 1000 m - Australia Women's K1 500 m - Samoa Women's K2 500 m - Australia Women's C2 500 m - Australia https://paddle.org.au/2020/02/14/australia-secures-five-additional-olympic-canoe-sprint-quota-spots/
  3. Last pairs in both events have been nothing short of a snooze.
  4. Bloemen is cheering for Fish. I guess he never watched All About Eve.
  5. More like 5/10 on the Nauta scale. In case you are wondering what the hell I am talking about - I'll never forget Nauta's SLC race where she was heading for a massive PB or something, but ended the race with 38 seconds lap.
  6. Well, still the clear winner of the technique department. Jordan Belchos almost survived in 2nd place.
  7. Bokko and some Frenchman? It will be an achievement to stay awake during this!
  8. Why is Zueva skating in, what appears to be, Slovenian uniform?
  9. Oops... I must have forgot that Dutch speed skaters are (too) much like British track cyclists...
  10. So, once again, this is not exactly ideal. Lots of work needs to be done in a short time frame. I don't think I will be able to fulfill everything I planned (and hoped for) when entering the bid process in November. But, nevertheless, I will try to do my best. For starters, I'll focus on creating some workable (but tentative) schedule. Hopefully the thread will get (re)opened some time next week. I can already announce that Rijeka will be the host city. It will be a great opportunity to incorporate TISC into the 2020 European Capital of Culture program. Interestingly, Rijeka is sharing this title with Galway. So hopefully together we can make this happen @OlympicIRL.
  11. I'm guessing that Samoa and Cook Islands will get two quotas each. Palau and Tonga will need a lot of luck.
  12. 15k new corona cases confirmed today.
  13. To our unlucky stars? But, yes, Croatia already has three failed bids. Statistical chance of that happening was only like 28.89%.
  14. No, it was an open bid. I remember because I was one of those who "expressed interest" despite having no participation experience whatsoever at that point. Poland was interested too I believe, but then everyone kind of dropped out and left it for Slovakia.
