  1. Looks like we have a reason why Sao Tome and Principe underperformed so much. Frustrating.
  2. Mozambique defeats Sao Tome and Principe by 0.13 seconds in C2. Heartbreaking. Sao Tome and Principe were also 2nd in C1 1000m... Last chance is in 200m, but I'm not hopeful.
  3. Jordan surprisingly qualifies in men's super heavyweight. Meanwhile, Tajikistan's horror story continues as Qurbonov fails to qualify. They had 4 boxers and 4 wrestlers in 2012 and now they have 0 in both after Asian qualifications. They might as well stay on 0.
  4. We had Grace Kelly from Australia at this tournament.
  5. What other countries are even eligible to be a part of South Asia? Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan?
  6. Results from the afternoon session are up. http://africanchamps.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/D1PMSession.pdf
  7. Also, only nations that competed at the 2015 World Championships are eligible to earn quotas. And this sadly means no chance for Libya even though their athlete won his heat in C1. Eligible nations are actually marked with * on results lists.
  8. Sao Tome and Principe looking very promising in men's C2!
  9. Looks like it will be pretty much impossible to find any results from this regatta (as usual with canoeing). Just horrible.
  10. Kazakhstan also gets a full men's team, booooring.... Turkmenistan failed.
  11. Wow, and I was just reading today about her proposal for Tokyo 2020 Olympic stadium. It wasn't accepted because it was too expensive.
  12. For the first time ever the opening/closing ceremonies won't be held at the athletics stadium. I'm not really a fan of that.
  13. I remember that famous Madagascar vs Sierra Leone lucky semifinal draw from London 2012 (in one of the women's categories). Hoping for something similar this time.
  14. The situation is now a bit clearer, with only 2/3 races remaining for tomorrow. On Saturday there will be only medal races. EUROPE Men's 470 - (Italy is 3 points behind, so Ukrainians have lost their big advantage, Portugal is 27 points behind) Women's 470 - (with a big advantage over Finland and Estonia) Women's 49er FX - (with a decent 26 points advantage over Austria) Men's Finn - (Czech Republic is 5,5 points behind, Russia 7, Portugal 23, Spain lost its chance) Men's Laser - (but Greece is much closer after today, so maybe there is a chance, though not a big one) Women's Laser Radial - (Switzerland and Spain are 12 and 13 points behind Portugal, respectively) Mixed Nacra 17 - (Russia is 6 points behind, Norway 11, Sweden 31) Men's RS:X - (Czech Republic is 7 points behind Belarus) Women's RS:X - (Sweden is 19 points behind) AFRICA (everything is decided) Men's Finn - (Seychelles will stay ahead even if they don't compete in tomorrow's races and Tunisia wins both of them...) Mixed Nacra 17 -
  15. Uzbekistan qualified a full men's boxing team. +1 women, what makes them the biggest team so far.
  16. She is 42 points behind Portugal so not too big.
  17. Interesting to note that South Korea is likely going to miss boxing for the first time ever. They used to be a great cheaters in that sport.
  18. World Championships have priority over continental regattas. Meaning that if someone refuses it will be the USA that gets Worlds quota while Virgin Islands would get North American quota.
  19. No, they are 2nd on the list.
  20. Standings after day 3... EUROPE Men's 470 - (Ukrainians had a great day, now they are 24 points ahead of Portugal and 26 ahead of Italy) Women's 470 - (Finland is 10 points behind, Estonia 17, followed by Turkey and Italy) Men's 49er - qualified Women's 49er FX - (Austria is 13 points behind with others being far, far behind) Men's Finn - (Turkey, Portugal, Spain and Czech Republic are right behind, this is the most exciting class with provisional qualifier changing almost after every race) Men's Laser - (Greece and Slovenia will need a miracle to overtake them) Women's Laser Radial - (Spain is right behind, followed by Switzerland, Russia, Poland and Germany) Mixed Nacra 17 - (with Norway, Greece and Sweden being right behind, followed by Belgium and Portugal) Men's RS:X - (followed by Belarus) Women's RS:X - (Sweden is 8 points behind, others have no chance) AFRICA Men's Finn - (Tunisia is now 86 points behind) Mixed Nacra 17 - (they are so weak in this class, but good enough to go to the Olympics apparently...)
