  1. Wow, that's excellent collection of Official Olympic movies!
  2. Looks like we celebrated those Algerian quotas too early. Algeria seemingly pulled out of this regatta, in all classes. Since we don't have any African nations in women's 470, men's 49er and women's 49er FX, those quotas will be reallocated to the next best nations from 2015 Worlds. Switzerland in women's 470, Belgium in men's 49er and Ireland in women's 49er FX.

  4. Perhaps "Olympic History" would be a better name for the thread. Doesn't necessarily has to be a video. 2006 Torino movie is also one of my favourties. Though, my absolute favourite is Squaw Valley 1960 movie, but I can't find that on the internet (watched it on TV too few years ago). I only managed to find some parts about figure skating.
  5. So, as the title says here we can post Olympic movies, videos and similar stuff. This can be great excitement builder for the upcoming Olympics, especially since we can already count the weeks to Rio. To start with, here is the Olympic movie of 1980 Summer Olympics. I remember watching this movie years ago on TV (on ESPN classic I believe), but I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet at the time. It was the first Olympic movie I watched and I really enjoyed it. But looks like it is available on youtube now. 1980 Moscow Olympics definitely had their problems, but this is a very nice movie nevertheless!
  6. I believe that should be wrong. The only nation that might get two wild cards in one sport is Bhutan in archery. Although, they got only one in 2012, but before 2012 they usually got two.
  7. Saudi Arabia failed to qualify a team in show jumping after winning a bronze in London. Moreover, they didn't even qualify in individual jumping, for the first time in 24 years.
  8. Fournier qualified at the WCh, so Cuba is eligible to qualify lightweight sculls here.
  9. Obviously they are thinking about having more nations competing and more nations on podiums.
  10. Entry list for Latin American regatta is out. Big change is that from this Olympics a country can qualify only one boat per gender here. And that's quite good actually because we will no longer see the likes of Argentina or Mexico taking all four of these "gift quotas". Yes, these continental quotas in rowing are really gifts. It's just so odd to see some small Carribean Island nations competing here! http://www.worldrowing.com/mm//Document/General/General/12/23/33/EntriesbyBoatNameValparaisoOQR140316_Neutral.pdf
  11. 2017 World Championships will be held in Hong Kong. Slightly dissapointed because according to the wikipedia Turkmenistan was the only initial candidate. Track Worlds in Turkmenistan would be very interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_UCI_Track_Cycling_World_Championships
  12. Lesotho (-52kg), Togo (-91kg) and Cape Verde (+91kg) are in semifinals. Boxing seems to be developed in all parts of Africa.
  13. That one already went to Croatia. All unused quotas are reallocated already.
  14. Our women's 49er FX crew will have a very difficult task, even though they showed a big improvement at the last year's World Championships. I have also already assumed that African quota would be reallocated to Ireland, what would make our qualification a bit easier, but looks like Algeria denied that. On the other hand, it will be a huge dissapointment if we don't qualify in men's RS:X. It's too easy, 2 quotas for only 7 nations (and that includes Latvia, Slovakia and Turkey). And I also expected that we would qualify in men's RS:X before this regatta...
  15. Don't be so disrespectful towards Slovak sailors. You had a sailor at the Olympics as recently as in 2008.
  16. And here is the article about Allan Julie from Seychelles who wants to qualify in Finn even though he has only been training Finn for two weeks. He is a four time Olympian, but in Laser. http://www.finnclass.org/news/166-major-championships-2016/814-allan-julie-setting-the-bar-high-to-qualify-for-rio-olympics
  17. So, looking at the entry lists for Princesa Sofia regatta, these countries will fight for the last sailing quotas.. EUROPE Men's 470 (1) - Women's 470 (1) - Men's 49er (1) - Women's 49er FX (1) - Men's Finn (1) - Men's Laser (2) - Women's Laser Radial (2) - Mixed Nacra 17 (1) - Men's RS:X (2) - Women's RS:X (1) - AFRICA Women's 470 (1) Men's 49er (1) Women's 49er FX (1) Men's Finn (1) - Mixed Nacra 17 (1) -
  18. Meanwhile, the 1st seed (Kenya) and 4th seed (Egypt) in men's -56 kg at the African qualification are out. So, one of Zambia, Ghana, Lesotho and Uganda will win the quota what is great for them. Maybe even two of them will get it. Togo seems to be the only unqualified nation with a chance to grab its first quota here.
  19. And the worst part is that boxing is the only sport along with athletics where Tanzania actually has a chance for qualification!
  20. Here are the dressage Olympic selection standings for Canada and USA as of today. Canada will select the top two while the top 8 of USA standings will be invited to compete at two competitions in Europe where the final team will be selected. CANADA Belinda Trussell (Anton) - 73.380% Leah Wilson-Wilkins (Fabian) - 72.191% Karen Pavicic (Don Daiquiri) - 70.498% Chris von Martels (Divertimento) - 69.686% Megan Lane (Caravella) - 69.594% Jacqueline Brooks (D'Niro) - 68.605% USA Laura Graves (Verdades) - 76.569% Steffen Peters (Rosamunde) - 75.935% Steffen Peters (Legolas) - 74.573% Kasey Perry (Dublet) - 73.215% (not to be confused with Katy Perry ) Shelly Francis (Doktor) - 72.782% Shelly Francis (Danilo) - 72.255% Arlene Page (Woodstock) - 71.584% Alison Brock (Roosevelt) - 70.797% Lisa Wilcox (Galant) - 70.613% Catherine Haddad-Staller (Hotmail) - 69.817%
  21. Marijana Mišković won the judo continental open in Morocco. That should increase her Olympic chances. Zlatko Kumrić competes tomorrow.
