  1. Well at least it's only the heats so he doesn't have to produce anything too impressive (in 2019 a 10.23 was enough to progress).
  2. Yes, it's total bs and unfairly the US will probably still be able to skip if they qualify every relay at Fukuoka while probably every other country will need to attend in some capacity to secure relay qualification. They should either qualify ALL the relays at Fukuoka or ALL the relays at Doha so the playing field is level for Paris.
  3. FINA has announced that the utterly ridiculous 2024 Doha World Championships with be held on 2-18 February. https://www.fina.org/news/2675191/fina-announces-competition-dates-for-21st-fina-world-championships-doha-2024
  4. Canada's swimming team is gonna be so depleted without Oleksiak, Ruck and Sanchez. Women's relays will basically be time trials for the Aussies.
  5. There's little chance of her winning an individual medal at the Olympics. The best she'll likely be able to do is win individual medals at regional games (SEA Games/Asian Games). Based on the times at the 2018 Asian Games she could potentially podium in the 50, 100, 200 free and 100 back but her events besides backstroke have all gotten stronger in Asia in recent years.

  9. Quite a few events had exciting heats in Tokyo with fast times but yes this year the heats were a total bore.
  10. Ceccon isn't too surprising. His progression up until now has been quite consistent and if he were Australian he'd own the 15, 16, 17 and 18 years age records in the 100 back.
  11. It was a pretty good world championships for Australia all things considered. Certainly the nmumber of medals exceeded my expectations.
  12. Probably a combination of going out a bit too hard and not being able to deal with the waves coming from the big guys on either side. He'll get the WR eventually.
  13. Australia didn't even buy rights to the 2019 WCs but thankfully it's being broadcast this time. She missed tests after she'd already stopped training and competing. I don't see anything suspect about her at all.
  14. Top Seed In The 100/200 Free Siobhan Haughey Pulls Out Of 2022 World Championships
  15. The IOC can't really afford any more PR nightmares.
  16. This is why other orgs need to make their move as well so that FINA is not alone. As a gay man I hate that we now get bundled in with this circus.
  17. FINA doing what the other orgs have so far been too spineless to do. 👍👍👍
  18. No crusing the heats anymore. The 400 IM heats will probably be brutal too.
  19. He's not in the 400 IM heat sheet https://www.omegatiming.com/File/00011700000105EF0101FFFFFFFFFF00.pdf
  20. New Zealand was there too.
  21. Unless a provisional list is leaked I don't think we'll see the final start list until Wednesday (three days before).
  22. Anyone know which countries are actually going to Junior World Championships this year? With Russia banned and Australia, Canada, Japan and the US (maybe some others?) going to Junior Pan Pacs instead that leaves a very weakened event. Those countries made up 31 of 42 gold medals and 90 of 126 total medals at the 2019 edition.
