  1. I concur. Went to watch the opening rugby sevens session at the Commonwealth games and they looked really good, should've beaten Kenya in their opener and went on to draw with Australia in the evening.
  2. Maybe they were planning to and they just rejected or have been prioritised for other tournaments like Giles.
  3. Disappointed we didn't take Ham, I believe we were allowed to take a maximum of 14 so he must've rejected or been prioritised for other tournaments (assuming that Toprak counts towards the 14). In terms of Young over Fryer, they must think he has more potential than the latter and has more of a chance of reaching Paris. If Hall does indeed drop out I wonder if they'll put someone else in like Fryer or Platten or just leave the spot vacant. Either way I hope the decision to leave off some of the fringe athletes doesn't come back to bite us.
  4. Pretty good showing even with the notable omissions of Adam Peaty, Cassie Wild, Max Litchfield and Alicia Wilson, and the likes of Duncan Scott (400 IM), Brodie Williams (400 IM), James Guy (200 Fly) and Abbie Wood (200 Breast) not competing in events where we failed to reach the standard. If Amelie Blocksidge and Freya Colbert can shave 10 seconds off their respective 800 and 1500 Free times then we could be on for a full house, including relays (although I do expect the field to be cut in half with the ridiculous standards British Swimming set which are faster than our national records).
  5. Watch out for her in the next few years, she's our version of Summer McIntosh and is the next big thing in women's long distance swimming. She gave Freya Colbert a run for her money in the 800, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if she gets the worlds consideration times and Olympic standard times for both 800 and 1500.
  6. The German Darts event you mentioned is a European Tour event, so almost all the world's top players will be competing. I was very surprised at how poor Hull were today, but what matters to me most is that my team Widnes battered Swinton with a couple cracking length of the field tries.
  7. The qualifying times you're on about are there to "guarantee" qualification and will most likely only be used as an easy and fair way to decide who's going if more than 2 swimmers in an event reach the consideration times, which will be used to decide who's going to the worlds (even British Swimming are treating athletes that hit the consideration times as "going to Fukuoka"). We also get to choose up to 8 athletes who didn't hit the GB standard to go under the discretion of the Performance Director and Head Coach, with 30 athletes being the total limit.
  8. None but they've not had that many chances to do so, although it's a certainty that they're gonna boycott the Men's Boxing World Champs. I also believe they'll boycott the fencing world cup events, and would've already started doing so if the early ones wouldn't have been cancelled.
  9. Unfortunately our government won't listen to a left wing northern labour supporter like me, we're seen as weak and inferior. Well continue boycotting events as the government think it'll make them look good ahead of elections next year.
  10. I'm all for boycotting when necessary and compromising sporting integrity when other factors pose a bigger threat, but when it starts becoming detrimental to your athletes' success then that's where I feel you should draw the line, call it a day and beat the opposition your protesting against on the field of play. I'm fine with us boycotting both Boxing world championships as they're practically meaningless and the whole thing was a corrupt and dodgy mess to begin with, but when it comes to events like these where they directly affect us qualifying for major championships in a big way then it's best to beat the Russians and Belarusians on the mat and prevent them from reaching the Olympics that way.
  11. The poor lass.
  12. Not for someone whose nation will most likely boycott not only this but most of the events for the foreseeable future. This will massively impact our qualification attempt as we'd only be able to go for 2 spots in the Euro Quali event (assuming Russians and Belarusians aren't there).
  13. Such a stupid decision, considering all of them might not be able to compete at the Olympics because of their potential military ties. Can see a quarter of the nation's boycotting.

  17. Yes, I believe it is. https://www.google.com/amp/s/en.newizv.ru/news/2021-07-30/anna-prakaten-won-the-silver-medal-in-rowing-at-the-olympics-386202%3famp=1.
  18. I'm more surprised we didn't let our ego get in the way and reject the quota.

  20. It's good when we all come together to help each other out as well as inform others. WA can be painfully slow, I tend to find myself on twitter and Facebook looking for results.
  21. At what event was this? Edit: I've just seen the above post.
  22. Spanish Race Walking Championships March 26, 2023 Men's: No qualifiers Women's: Maria Perez
  23. After recent revelations the following marathon is now considered a qualification event. Generali Maraton Malaga December 11, 2022 Men's: No qualifiers Women's: Risper Chebet
  24. I'll leave the Hannover marathon on there, and what I'll do is I'll look at the Road To Budapest and see which marathons I've left off that are considered up to standard. I do think there should be summat there that tells you whether it's an A or B measured event.
  25. This isn't listed Grade B or above, so therefore doesn't count.
