  1. well. Talakhadze is human after all. (I was starting to believe otherwise ) for the first time after 7 years he struggled and could lose the gold medal to Lalayan . even though he still won the gold with a mediocre record I don't know if it is just one not-great tournament or the age is catching up with him finally. he is still 28 so I believe he just wasn't in a great shape.
  2. I was expecting a world record today. mostly from Karlos Nasar but it was Antonino Pizzolato who broke the WR today! 89kg was a non-Olympic weight until few months ago with a low level and those Standard WRs were still there until today but the Italian broke CJ and Total WR today. 392kg in total is an impressive result. might be enough for an Olympic gold.
  3. is there any livescore ? can't find one on EWF website but I remember they used to have one during their competitions.
  4. The greatest Judoka ever, the symbol of freedom, sportsmanship and blah blah is going to represent Azerbaijan from now on https://www.ijf.org/judoka/68901 he said at the end of "his 3 years contract with Mongolia" he now signed another 3 years contract with Azerbaijan. this is still amazing how come he sold his Hollywood style fake story to the world. how many athletes represented 3 completely unrelated countries ( I mean not Soviet or Yugoslavian breakups kind of things) at the Olympics ? he is a rare type.
  5. I was checking some wrestling results. Vietnam won 17 out of 18 gold medals in this sport. the last gold medal at 125kg freestyle went to Cambodia. it was interesting because they hired a famous Iranian wrestler to coach their wrestling program (famous athlete, 2012 Olympic champion but a newbie coach) at first look it was an interesting coaching result but the gold medalist turned out to be a random Iranian wrestler when you are a poor coach and can't help local athletes to improve. you always can call some help from home to get results.
  6. max 1 team per NOC in mixed doubles is the only notable change.
  7. cutting one quota from K1 and C1 and adding 1 quota to C2
  8. Canoe Sprint Document is back with some changes in the number of quotas per event this is fantastic to publish something and changing it after less than a day ! looks like Mr Bach is busy saving the world and forget to hire qualified people to do simple jobs like this.
  9. They removed the Canoe Sprint file (at least for now)
  10. and some people thought Taliban is different this time in their official announcement they said women better to not leave home at all !! but if they do they have to cover their faces. if not their male relatives (husband or father) will go to jail! https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/5/7/taliban-orders-afghan-women-to-cover-their-faces-in-public
  11. and this time next year we will have the news about Chendgu 2024 ...
  12. Really really disappointing, having the games in 2023 will conflict with lots of Olympic qualifiers. I hope OCA seriously looks for another host. you can't trust China with hosting things anymore even though it's probably not possible to organize such a huge event in less than a year.
  13. when we are supposed to have all qualification documents ? June 2024 ? with Tommy B in charge nothing surprises me anymore (the last time I criticized him here they realized few documents in less than an hour so I hope it works again) but what's interesting for me that some sports didn't even notify everybody about their qualification documents being published. for example nobody in my country knows that Wrestling qualification is already out there. our WR federation is usually pretty quick in publishing these kind of news and they certainly doesn't know that. even in weightlifting, IWF didn't write a thing about it in its website. I had to contact some journalists and send them the PDF, now it's published in news websites here and everybody knows. specially in weightlifting everybody should know the qualification system already to make plans. (also be more careful about doping and watching younger athletes) I believe half of those sports wrote something in their websites about Olympic qualification documents being published. in most of them still nobody knows
  14. who knows. maybe they are in Australia uploading files while in vacation
  15. this is the 2nd K1 event that Iranians are missing. they missed last year World Championship in UAE too. actually since Olympics Iran didn't participate in any non-Asian tournaments !! I'm afraid we won't see them in international competition for a while (except Asian tournaments) reason? officially nobody knows. unofficially I heard things but I can't write them here.
  16. Shotokan is the dominant school here as well. that's surprising to see most big names come from Shitoryu (and even Gojoryu)
  17. it's 14 actually. yeah 12 will qualify but I believe France will qualify 1 athlete at least itself (which will annul host nation's direct quota) and there is a good chance they can't find an eligible athlete for the wild card. still it will be really hard to qualify for everybody.
  18. This is very disappointing to cancel such a big event this close to the competition. specially when things are going back to normal in most countries postponing it to the next year is also a bad idea because of the Olympic qualifiers in most sports next year. I still hope it doesn't happen. @Vic Liu I asked you about this couple times before sorry but now I have a valid reason to ask again. what's our chance ?
  19. all FINA qualification documents are now removed from IOC website
  20. oh thanks. I read it something like 5 times and didn't notice that
  21. I have hard time to understand weightlifting qualification https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/Olympic-Games/Paris-2024/Paris2024-QS-Weightlifting.pdf that section "Consequences due to Anti-Doping Rule Violations" can someone explain this one in simple English how many doping violations will get you banned ? 2 or 3 ? what's the difference between parts (b) and (e) the rest of the qualification is easy to understand, much better than the 2020 version which was probably the worst qualification system ever
  22. the last time we had an update (on qualification documents) was 8 April, 11 days ago. any idea when Tommy B is going to publish more of those PDFs?
  23. first ever IWF Street Weightlifting Competition in mixed team format https://iwf.sport/2022/04/14/iwf-unveils-new-iwf-street-weightlifting-competition-and-athlete-ambassador-program/ those two words together to makes Tommy happy
  24. does it mean China is slowly changing its policy of (almost) not going anywhere? or this is just an exception since Mongolia is your neighbor.
  25. Asian Championships entries https://uww.org/article/wrestleulaanbaatar-asian-championships-entries very surprised to see Japan, Korea and China altogether in the start list ! specially China they are ignoring most of the World Championships even in their favorite sports and all of a sudden they want to send a team to the Asian Wrestling Championship!? @Vic Liu how come that's even possible ? even though I won't believe it until I see Chinese wrestlers on the mat it looks like most of Asian countries are bringing their A team probably preparing for the Asian Games. but for Iran this is a mixed team. a mixture of underachieved veterans, some bright future talents and bunch of nobodies per our "rules" Asian Champ is a part of our trial process for the Worlds/Asian Games and those who won a World/Olympic medal last year are exempt from competing here (it sounds weird because participating at the Continental Championship should be an honor not a burden ) therefore none of our big names are here thanks to these new weird rules. (there are only 2 former world medalist in 20-man squad )
