  1. I highly doubt that. she was the only one on the red course getting very close to win a race let me show you guys some statstics , if we don't count CHN vs SUI . we had only and only one win from the red course (beside DNF wins) and that solitary win belongs to Shiffrin against Slovakia. I somehow think she was the best skier today
  2. looks like the only team who reazlied how to deal with this is Germany . the rest simply threw their skiers into the competition. there is one simply strategy in a sitution like this. put your best male and best female skiers on the blue course to achieve the best possible time
  3. US team once again will put Shiffrin on the red course. she did great against Bassino and Duerr but still lost narrowly. (maybe she wins this time) she deserves a medal today but it seems whoever makes decision for team USA can't understand simple logic.
  4. yep. turned out to be a stupid strategy as expected. I mean that was obvious
  5. out of 16 QF races. 14 of them had won by the skier on the blue course and those other 2 races finished by DNF. teams should put their best skiers for the blue course. Switzerland made a big mistake here by not using Holdner first.
  6. almost everybody in blow course wins (except Aliprandini who always DNFs)
  7. I can do that. just need one more accident to be eligible for the Paralympic competition
  8. I think you guys have higher standards in Poland your sister would be considered very tall for a woman here I'm couple centimeters shorter than 195 and my friends consider me the tallest person in the town yeah I know 170 is still short but I thought he is 160 or something by his look. so 170 was taller than my expectation at least.
  9. I assume you are partying right now. but congrats @hckošicewhenever you read this
  10. he looked smaller than 170cm to me . so he is not that short after all ( still short comparing to those Russians ) it seems he could have a successful career in weightlifting. but I'm glad he picked a different sport Congrats
  11. oh well. look who is leading in the bronze medal match. (and they just scored another one)
  12. well that was a very quality final . each of those 3 teams could end up on top of the podium but at the end of day only one of them could win the gold. how tall is Han Cong ? he is VERY strong for someone at his size.
  13. so it's technically a knockout competition without repechage wrestling tried that format from 2000 to 2004. that's terrible. I like the round robin part though (athletes travel a long distance for more than just 1 match) but then with only 1 karateka advancing it's worse than the old format . this is interesting. wrestling is now using the (old) karate format. and Karate wants to use the old wrestling format. that's amazing. isn't it ?
  14. You rarely can see any sign of nerves on curlers. but I think Edin was pretty nervous before those last 2 shots on the 10th end. he had to be perfect to make it to the extra end and he was indeed perfect
  15. Thanks, that's interesting, I didn't know basketball in popular there, but I guess I should know, basketball is a popular sport worldwide. I think it's always good to host sport events. at very least it helps the sport in the country to develop and improve we don't know what will happen in July. but I hope it will be with spectators.
  16. FIBA Asia Cup draw A) B) C) D) kind of a boring group for Iran, we will play SYR and KAZ next week during the WC qualifiers. it seems we have to play Syria every single tournament but based on the knockout round bracket we HAVE to beat Japan to finish 1st in the group and avoid Australia in the QF. this is probably the last tournament for some of our old guys. we had this generation since 2007 and they did great by winning 5 medals already (0 medals before 2007 !) but this is their last hurrah , hopefully they win a bronze at least. this is also important for host Indonesia, they have to finish in top 8 to qualify for the 2023 World Cup!! that's fiba's requirement to give them the host quota. @Griff88 is it a sure thing that Indonesia doesn't cancel the tournament in the last minute ? is this sport even popular there ? (I mean the NT level. everybody watches the NBA)
  17. not weird than people in certain places want her dead and buried already in an ongoing investigation. what about innocent until proven guilty? or that phrase applies only when we like it. (and that certainly doesn't apply to a Russian, because they are animals, right? that's how certain western media see people in other countries) if one day she finds guilty. then that's the time to punish the adults who are responsible for this. no matter what a 15 years old can never be responsible herself for such a thing.
  18. that was really sad. I'm not going to write more about this because it won't be nice at all. I learned more about how things works in some western media after this story (not that I didn't know but that was a new low) mission accomplished they managed to destroy that 15 years old criminal monster. I hope she comes back, I wish she comes back stronger but I doubt it. this will be really hard for her. she probably needs a very long break to recover (if she ever does) I genuinely wish her the best of luck for the rest of her life and her career (if there is a career left)
  19. thanks guys well you always here something new. that's one of the dumbest things ever. is it really hard for FIS officials to set the courses themselves and make it more fair ?
  20. I wanted to ask a question about that long time ago. I heard that a lot from the Eurosport commentators. it was just hard to believe. how come such a thing happens. at first I thought maybe that's part of the host nation thing. but apparently that's not the case @phelps how come they decide who set the course ? randomly, is there a draw or something ? or whoever smiles better gets that ?
  21. I think the Russian went for a safe jump after watching the others failing . the degree of difficulty of his jump was much lower comparing to the rest. (while I think his initial jump was 5, but he changed it to something like 4.5)
  22. I wonder what @hckošice is doing now before the penalties
  23. will they award the Olympic diplomas here in Beijing ? or that should wait too like the medals ? I mean the clean Alysa Liu has a chance to win a diploma , her Olympic moment shouldn't be ruined or her daddy will be upset. we don't want that, do we ?
