I think it's 9, I highly doubt Al Kanoussi (NED) and Alili (MKD) have Russian heritages, those names don't sound Russian at all and Atli is as Turk as Erdogan himself. but half of quality wrestlers in this event are Russians (I'm not talking about former Soviet countries, but only the Russians) , for example in 97kg 4 out of top 5 names used to wrestle for Russia. two of them even wrestled at the World Senior Championship for Russia. while the king himself is not allowed to wrestle here This is the worst European Championships I ever witnessed for obvious reasons (still looking forward to that Geno-Akgul match though) I believe the Greco competition will be a bit better. Russia is not that dominant in Greco. but what's more interesting is to see Russian wrestlers representing other countries. in this time, specially those countries who pushed and screamed for Russian athletes (even 17 years old kids) to be banned from international competitions. using Russian athletes (who mostly still train and live in Russia) and not letting the top athletes to participate even under a blank/neutral flag at the same time. disgusting

Iran picked up its first defeat in 2.5 years and after just one defeat everybody wants our Croat coach to be fired he took over when we were in deep shit after losing to Bahrain and Iraq in the 1st round (thanks to charlatan Wilmots). before this Korea defeat his record with NT in 15 matches was 14 win and 1 draw (which is great by any standards) still nobody gives him credit for these results. the credit always goes to the players. yep that Korea match was disastrous and Iran was completely hopeless but half of our key players were missing for different reasons (COVID mostly) but it's amazing how people care more about the names more than results our current coach Skocic used to coach a club in Iran division 2 and that's why everybody still making fun of him. everybody says "someone who coached in Div 2 should never coach the NT" so it's highly possible that Iran fires the coach after tomorrow match vs Lebanon and start looking for a "big name" someone terrible like Benitez or Klinsmann of course our federation is a mess with no president in charge, you can't predict anything with them. we might end up having a local coach

the qualification in CONCACAF is almost done and dusted. USA and MEX still need few more days to qualify officially but with this GD difference they are already qualified (for US it's 100%, not even 99%) and CRC also secured the playoff place against NZL (or Solomon Islands) both USA and Mexico will be in pot 2 for the draw. Canada most probably will be in pot 4 and I believe they are one of the best teams in this pot.

nobody uses the Taliban flag, except themselves. Taliban government is not recognized by anybody yet. so the old flag is still the official one for international federations. as far as I know the only sport Taliban cares about is Cricket and they let the Cricket NT played the World Cup couple months ago under the old flag. at least for now they are not insisting on using their own flag but since they are starting to do their normal Taliban things, I think that will happen eventually.

that sounded like you know who I mean the guy with the orange hair

can be 5 2 more European teams can play the playoff round which has 2 more quotas available. so max 18 European teams can play in 2026 FIFA WC

what a shitty day another World Cup without Italy. I never imagined to see this day once. and now twice. yeah Euro feels like ages ago, they simply forgot how to score recently. this team tonight couldn't score even against Papua New Guinea.

I don't think they can ever make a "deal" about these things. this is simply who they are. they believe women should only stay at home, educated women are harder to control. Taliban is still the same shit, they just got a bit smarter to say something else to the media. they might promise so many things during negotiations but in reality they didn't give up an inch. they are having their old rules back one by one.

Japan beat Australia 2-0 by two very late goals . which means Japan and Saudi Arabia are officially qualified for the World Cup Australia has to play against IRQ/UAE/LBN to qualify for the intercontinental play-off match against 5th CONMEBOL. interestingly New Zealand now has a better chance to qualify than Australia.

Taliban at its best https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/23/taliban-orders-girls-schools-shut-hours-after-reopening not that anybody cares. Afghanistan is yesterday's news

Today is 1/1/1 in Iranian calendar. (1/1/1401 to be accurate) these last 5 years were extremely tough, lots of lives lost. hopefully the new year and the new century brings good things to the country first and our sport second. it was hard/impossible to improve in anything considering the situation, but still last year was OKish in term of sports results, specially the Olympics. hopefully this year will be better with Asian Games and some other important events.

we will have some new rules in Taekwondo effective from 1 June 2022. some of them are big changes and some fighters have to change their style completely. this video explains them I'm just not sure if "best of 3 format" is mandatory. in their official document they explained both formats. (normal current one and this new one) I don't know what format we will have at the World Championships and other major tournaments but I assume we still go with the old one. they are still testing this crazy "best of 3" format. wrestling tried that format for so many years and that was terrible

based on the recent actions and recent posts here @Sindo you should also start banning Russian users or users from countries those didn't condemn Russia. since we are at it. you should start having a morale police. I recently learned that in "free world" even being quiet about this matter is a crime. you should start interrogating users one by one. you always can start with me.

that's not Taliban's vote. the guy from the Ashraf Ghani's government voted himself Taliban would probably vote for Abstention based on their official statement few days ago

FIBA officially disqualified South Korea from the Asian qualifiers. they failed to show up in the Philippines for their games without consulting with FIBA. they just said one of our players is tested positive for COVID and we are not coming! I totally understand how much people in East Asia care about this Covid thing but this is too much. the rest of the continent can't wait for them. but this is a big news, with this NZ, Philippines and India are already in the 2nd round and that gives Lebanon and Jordan a very good chance to qualify for the World Cup together. they only have to beat KSA and India. KSA is a good team and they already beat Jordan once but they can't beat anybody else (except India) from the other group. as for Iran, World Cup Qualification looked easy on paper but it's not easy anymore. we somehow considered ourselves as good as Lithuania and Serbia and stupidly didn't gather all of our best players for this window. Kazakhstan gave us a bitter lesson. even today's game against Syria was scary until the 4th quarter. we need all we have for the next window to beat Kazakhstan away and make up for that defeat.

Russia-Ukraine Crisis Consequences in Sports
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Totallympics Mixed Zone
my friend can I ask you to change your mind ? I exactly have the same problem with these double standards. I left the forum so many times in past . you can ask Sindo . he will tell you try this "ignore option" that's great. that's the only reason I'm still here. I simply don't see people I don't like. -
nobody, really ? you should read some comments in the forum, US bombs are nice. only Russian bombs are ugly if we want to talk about history, here in Iran unfortunately we have experiences with all those powerhouses (US, UK and the Soviets) attacking and killing our people. sometimes directly. sometimes indirectly. (you will be surprised to learn who gave chemical weapons to the dear old Saddam to whip out some of our cities) I wrote what I really feel about this madness in another comment. nothing can justify a war. and I hate all warmongers, eastern or western and I wake up everyday hoping to hear some news about a ceasefire or something like that. right now I only wish and pray this war ends as soon as possible to not lose more lives, that's the most important thing right now. btw if someone watches CNN for 2 hours he may end up cheering for Putin. US media can be this bad sometimes.

sure, always glad to help in this case if you want to go with Olympic champions what would be easy but some of those "Olympic Champions" aren't really the best of their era. 2008 and 2012 gold medalists didn't actually win the gold on the competition's day. if I had to name 5 biggest super heavyweight wrestlers I would name Baumgartner, Musulbes, Akgul and Petriashvili. Artur Taymazov is surely there but he lost 2 of his 3 Olympic golds because of doping and everybody knew he was using drugs in 2004 too. he just didn't get caught.
-
I'm new to these polls. do you want to compare athletes from different Olympics? that will be a bit hard since they changed weights in wrestling so many times. but in men's freestyle I would suggest a middle weight, 74-76kg. or you can go for the super heavyweight (if it was Greco-Roman I would surely suggest the supper heavyweight)

my friend. in this case just be careful to not get too close to the American troops. they usually don't consider local people as human. things like this can happen too which wasn't even against the "law" https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-59157089

I wish you, your family and your country the best of luck. I know how it feels to live in a situation like that. I just hope this madness, this meaningless war ends soon. with as less causality as possible

my reaction to this question is we had 3 athletes, one of them tested positive for doping, another one tested positive for COVID and the last one scored a DNF. that summarizes our performance in winter sports. I follow winter sports for a bit less than 2 decades (thanks to Eurosport) and I always hoped one day some of them develop in my country but I just know it will never happen. nobody takes wintersports serious here. we had TV coverage this year. mostly because there was nothing else to show in the morning/afternoon but that's it. absolutely no coverage in news websites. newspapers etc (except that our flag bearer doping scandal)

Alpine Skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Alpine Skiing
she also lost by just 0.10 to Duerr. in the whole competition she was the only one who was close to win a race from the red course. nobody else was Shiffrin will never forget this Olympics. even when she was doing great, someone else messed up her chance.
