  1. After Day 3 GB have beaten the gold totals of 1896, 1904, 1952, 1960 and 1996. They have equalised with 1928, 1948 and 1976. In terms of total medals they have beaten 1904 and equalised 1896
  2. I am just doing it by the last person eliminated by a Russian and moving medals up accordingly. It’s not obviously that accurate but it shows it’s impact of the CAS ruling.
  3. I will be shocked if Dawson can even get fourth on the strength of her semi swim. I feel Abbie Wood is the more likely female GB Swimmer capable of springing a surprise bronze if she makes the 200 IM final through she is much more likely to finish fourth or fifth. Molly Renshaw is likely to be in a similar position in the 200m Breastroke.
  4. The weather is said to be awful in Tokyo atm so is this going to go ahead as scheduled?
  5. Oops. For some reason I thought the events were over two days not three.
  6. These are daily medals per country had Russia remained Banned as WADA wanted. Day 1 Switzerland - +1 Silver Norway + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Argentina + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Day 2 Bulgaria + 1 Gold China + 1 Silver Ukraine + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Germany + 1 Silver Belarus + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Italy + 1 Silver (Additional Medal) South Korea + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Refugee + 1 Silver (Additional Medal) Day 3 France + 1 Gold Hungary + 1 Silver (Additional Medal) Either China or USA + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) - China also +1 Silver Japan + 1 Gold GB + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Jordan + 1 Gold Egypt + 1 Silver Norway + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Mexico + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal)
  7. For tommrow The main Medal Hopes are Duncan Scott in the Swimming, Bianca Walken in the Taekwondo, the team dressage and any one of the British Trio in the Women’s Triathlon. Possibly but not likely hopes are Thomas Dean in the swimming, Eden Cheng and Lois Toulson in the diving ,Mahama Cho in the Taekwondo and the rugby sevens. Any other medals would be massive upsets,
  8. Only some - some sports have the ability to get a lot more private funding than others. Also it depends on the grassroots ability of a sport - those with better grassroots and ability to get kids into sport will fare better than those like Rowing where a lot of people don’t take up till late teens.

  10. I did wonder if lack of spectators might have removed that factor.
  11. And it will probably have a bit of an effect on American talent development in other sports as well due to parents worrying if there other Nassar’s out there.
  12. I think this is the general future for Gymastics. Both GB and America look unlikely to do anything but future decline in the common decade due to major scandals within the domestic scene and in the UK at least future funding is not secure.
  13. I didn’t expect that. A good good gold.
  14. I was gobsmacked smacked when the commentators said he was 27 - I thought they said he was 37 as that is more realistic.
  15. Silver for Alex Yee. A great result. I can see GB being higher in the American style total medal table than the gold ranking which could be in single figures.
  16. Not sure about Badminton - GB is better than most non Asian countries in the sport. Not sure why GB is so poor at Fencing as it is popular at a recreational level. Going from 67-33 medals would be pretty shocking for any country and Paris will surely just see a great risk of further decline and extreme pressure to perform Better than Tokyo or probably see lottery funding entirely abolished and replaced with everyone trying to get private funding. Tennis has been a long term issue for the Uk and another rather puzzling issue.
  17. Adulterer - it’s not something that would have been such a big issue in terms of being on the team in the UK.
  18. The last is pretty bizarre. Surely the Olympics themselves should be providing separate transport if the risk of communal transport is a risk.
  19. If by next Sunday the medal total is Atlanta with little chance of making Athens or Sydney. Eurosport’s commentators were pretty disappointed at the failure to make the relay final. Feels like for the others finals the best will have to be used in the heats or face serious questions about strategy.
  20. Simone Biles has been lucky to hold on to qualifications for all four finals as that did look in serious doubt earlier.
  21. Pleased for Jessica Gadirova make the floor final. However with how unpredictable gymnastics is at times recently I will be very pleased with any medal male or female - I feel like th golden era for GB gymnastics is coming to an end and with the chaos behind the scenes it will be hard for any future medal contenders to appear.
  22. Horrible defeat for Sinden.cLet’s hope tomorrow we win a gold or two. I still think the target of 45 medals is not going to be anyway near being achieved and it’s more about trying to beat the 28 and 30 of Sydney and Athens (and trying maybe to beat the 11 and 9 golds of those games. Uk Sport should be honest with the public if they want any hope of not finding a sudden funding cut being announced this autumn.
  23. A great 80.9 for Charlotte Dujardin. While It’s surely likely to be double Gold for Germany she is a contender for a medal while the British Team also look to be in medal contention.
  24. GB not looking as strong in the swimming as the Europeans teased they would be. Not sure they will get that close to the 6 medals of last time. Again another sport that will find keeping funding hard with pressure to spend more of the money on public swimming rather than elite.
