Rarely heard A320 crashing. I saw some media reported it failed landing due to the undercarriage problem and going around, sadly failing landing again due to both engines losing power. Undercarriage problem happens every now and then, usually planed could be forced landing safely (at least not crashing and all dead). I suspect it may caused by misoperation during forced landing, at least partially.

Good news to Gong Li, she almost got the quota before Rabat and Baku both canceled. But she could get it anyway, the continental quota is almost assured.

I think so, the Olympic standing period extended and quotas should be re-competed.

I don't mean to be merciless for Indian or Bengalis. I know the quality of infrastructure is the key to typhoon and west pacific countries are much more experienced. It just reminds me of the so called strongest typhoon landing Japan last year. The media repeated days before it landing and describe how terrible it would be. All food stores in Tokyo are empty after panic buying. It turned out just a heavy rain for one day. The second day is back to normal. These kind of stories just repeat again and again. I was also one of the panic buying guys when I studied in Hong Kong where often disturbed by typhoon and I knew sleeping and watching TV is fine.

Still one day to go for landing, enough time to withdraw if informed and organized well. The wooden shelter would be destroyed for sure, but life should be saved. And this level typhoon appear in west pacific almost every year, so called strongest, but people are getting numbed (for Japan and China).

Is it too over? I mean being cautious is good but isn't it should be accessed weekly or monthly. Eager to start economy is risky but just ignoring it and staying at home too long may cause unrecoverable damage to the economy. It shouldn't be a two extremes battle in my opinion.

Larger economy with large population has bigger bargain power. Enterprise could easily hire low-cost manpower as many poor people exist ( many rich people exist too but not bothering the Macdonald hiring ).

I think the only hope to end this pandemic is vaccine. The situation in East Asia seems under control now but only if strict measure continuously maintained, otherwise the second wave will be back if border control lifted. The new normal is not actual normal. The society functions much less active than before though government claims we are back. Obviously the confidence is not back and the fear is still there, the market is not active at all. So unless the vaccine developed, the global market won't be normal as before. news reported several vaccine developed into 2nd phase trial, hopefully at least one will be successfully developed in 2020. Chinese media is optimistic that the first vaccine would be ready in September if every procedure goes well. Hope it true and not be a political weapon whoever develop it first .

It's true. I just combine them based on their views. I have to say NY times reporting fact despite the views and comments.

I will daily get news from the most pro-Chinese government media to the most anti-Chinese government media, so I can get totally different news and views everyday. Here is the pro-Chinese government index of my daily accessing media 10- Chinese state-owned media ( mostly positive news only and lots of criticism on USA ) 7 - Caixin ( private Chinese media with some mild criticism on government and focusing on minority victims ) 5 - BBC/BBC Chinese ( generally negative news based on fact with some reasonable criticism ) 4 - CNN/NY Times ( negative news only with several fake news, the criticism is systematically and ideologically biased ) 3 - Yahoo Taiwan ( fake news family, just like reading jokes and having fun ) 0 - Voice of America Chinese ( full of ideological bias and making me feel I am living in the hell awaiting the rescue of USA )

Nowadays basically no media are 100% objective and your favored media could precisely feed what you want based on your taste. Accessing different major media in different countries is what I can do to try to balance different views. CNN is fake news media is more like a joke to imitate Trump but CNN is truly the first mainstream media to report the rumor and tigger lots of small media to make up stories for clicks. I don't like this "according to our reliable source" reporting style and I feel like jeering it because of this misinformation. But I would not say everything it report is fake and worthless reading, on the contrary, it's a major tool to know and understand American liberals views.

Kim Jong Un show up in both video and photos. So major South Korean and Chinese media and officials are right about this. And CNN is a real major fake news media and many other small ones.

Russian /ex-Korean short track speed skating legend Viktor Ahn retires second time due to long-term knee injury. He retired in 2018 and return in 2019 attempting to persist until 2022 Olympics. Sadly he chose to retire again due to the injury and age.

China definitely go through this scenario many times so China will not just let it happen. The best scenario is as you said, his sister take over, everything is still peace and stable. The second best is China and South Korea (maybe USA and Russia together) involved into NK internal political battle without blood, finally a new government recognized by all parties founded with one more step to democracy and unification. The worst scenario is the proxy war happen. China will not allow US army near its border, NK is a perfect buffer zone right now, once this balance break the war will begin. China and South Korea are pretty calm right now so I think Kim's probably still recoverable or prepared for peaceful power take-over. Neither USA or China would rather see a unified Korea ( cruel but true), Neither one will play fool to start a proxy war I guess/hope.

Major Chinese and South Korean media are keep saying or implying Kim's fine these days. It may be true or it means South Korea and China are busy handling this unexpected issue. This is not the first time rumor about Kim's death, according to previous experience, he will show up to end this within 2 weeks. If Kim is really dead, WOW, huge battle between North and South Korea, and China VS USA. Can't predict how it will develop.

Any story about his sister? I didn't read any before except those very formal ones without emotion.

Japanese media said he became vegetative state due to heart surgery failure. And after the surgery NK asked help for China and China sent experts team but still unsuccessful. The whole story written is very detailed and vivid but no one can verify. NK state-owned media continuously publish some text news related to Kim to show he is working normally but with no video or image. To conclude, nobody really knows. Usually the misery will be uncovered within 2 weeks.

Hope we will not see any news someone died of drinking or injecting disinfectant in coming days.

I think the village size won't be a big problem again and I'm OK with the naturalization as it will trigger tenser competition and Qatar and Bahrain will do it anyway. If the AG will make Saudi Arabia accept the women's sports and women spectators, it would be a huge progress and I will definitely vote for them.

Why Doha still have motivation to hold another Asian Games given it held once and going to hold the FIFA World Cup. Why not Doha fight for the Summer Olympics? And for Riyadh, I even doubt that if female beach volleyball, diving and gymnastics could be held as usual, spectators and live streaming are also problems.
