  1. After the U20 World Cup fiasco, here is an update from the ANOC World Beach Games: the Indonesian NOC invited all CdM from the participating countries except the Israeli CdM for a meeting
  2. I believe @hckošice will love this
  3. Paris 2024 pictograms are tricky enough to be included in my favorite Japanese quiz show lol
  4. There is no manga of this (anime only), but there is a mobile game of this title
  5. I think Du Yue just clarified that she’s not retiring. For Yilyu I think it might be true
  6. Carolina Rieuwpassa, died on 16 March in her hometown of Makassar. She is the first Indonesian female athlete to compete in more than 1 edition of Olympic Games (1972 & 1976)
  7. Interesting, 2 cities that are not located near the Mediterranean Sea
  8. Well that’s what the protestors said… Letting Israel play = betraying Palestine and Islam. Ironically, even the de-facto ambassador of Palestine for Indonesia said that they did not reject the Israelis playing in Indonesia. So the protestors think they are “more Palestine” than the Palestinians
  9. Indonesian president issued a statement that he and his men are “looking for solutions”, while reassuring that letting the Israeli team play has nothing to do with support to Palestinians. As of now, the newly elected football federation president is on the way to FIFA HQ.
  10. The tournament already became a victim of Indonesian politics… As 2024 is election year, politicians from the ruling party (incl. the Governor of Bali) issued statements rejecting Israeli team to show their appeals to the religious groups and boost their re-election chances. This is probably the only time the ruling nationalist party and the Islamist parties have one voice in any matter…
  11. World Junior Championships 2023 is confirmed to be hosted in Spokane, Washington
  12. The organizers said that they will do their best to lobby various stakeholders to keep the tournament in Indonesia from yesterday's press conference. The journalists present at the location asked the feasibility of some proposed crazy solutions such as holding Israeli matches in Papua or Singapore And now we're getting reports that Argentina is ready to step in. This is getting interesting
  13. Hypothetically it is still possible to let the Israeli team in Jakarta, the GBK stadium complex has a hotel in it (although it is located at the easternmost point of the complex). Seal the complex gates and play behind closed doors... Not going to be a pretty solution but if situation is getting worse I think both FIFA and the Indonesian government can consider this.
  14. Unexpected turn of events for the FIFA U-20 World Cup as Governor of Bali, the expected group location for Israeli team, published a letter rejecting the presence of the team in the island...
  15. Thank you @Cobifor posting the votes on behalf of me. The repairmen came to fix the air conditioning around half an hour before this starts and I completely forgot about the vote timings!
  16. Just voted! This year my top 5 easily distinguished themselves from the rest, ranking the remaining points is a big task
  17. Just went to Jakarta Velodrome for the first time, a really nice experience I have to say. Spectators around me mostly have no idea about the events, luckily the announcements in the venue are very helpful for the first-time goers. The excitement was the highest during elimination race of women's omnium and the close races of the men's sprint.
  18. Well another bronze in the sprint (and I was there to witness it)
  19. with dramatic win over in the African Mixed Team C'ship. Now we know 6 countries for the Sudirman Cup.
  20. After Day 2 of EMTC, these 4 teams also confirmed their places in the Sudirman Cup
  21. I see it as "peeping is prohibited" sign
  22. I was rooting for Calja for the sake of history, but his coaches decided to decline the offer Anyway it will be tougher for him in 2024, considering he's competing against younger competitors
  23. Well a few of them are really more helpful and intuitive than the traditional ones (cycling road/track, rowing, canoeing). 50% of them contains unnecessary confusion while the reminder are "excuse me wtf is that". Badminton looks 500% cooler here, hopefully can help the reduce the backyard sport stigma
