  1. Looks like I missed this thread back in June! From the eight medal winners in Buenos Aires only Enzo Kuworge (weightlifting, +85kg bronze medal) qualified to Tokyo. I can't find the full team we sent to Buenos Aires, apparently we sent 41 athletes in total. I see some athletes that qualified to Tokyo already: Tes Schouten (swimming 100m br) and Raisa Schoon (beachvolleyball). I also found that three members from TeamNL Nanjing (2014) went to Rio, so it looks like a repeat this time.
  2. I can see it in the Dutch matches as well: all of them at watchable times between 08:00 and 15:00 CEST, except the two matches against US and Canadian opposition at like 2AM CEST
  3. Impressive silver for Roosen in the men's decathlon with his first ever 8000+ score. And a bronze for Van Es on the 5000m. A few disappointments in the tournament, but all in all 6 medals isn't bad for the Dutch athletics team. Let's not forget Femke Bol and Lieke Klaver are also in this age group!
  4. Three medals for W2x gold, W8 silver and M4x bronze The W2x pair were also junior champions in 2019, sounds promising!
  5. Japan dominating the judo competition seems like it's just waiting to happen. I hope Noel van t End can follow the example of the great Anton Geesink though! Taking a gold in the home of judo.
  6. Boermans/De Groot just took everyone by surprise to win the Gstaad 4* tournament! From their first semifinal appearance straight to their first win!
  7. Gold medal for Schilder in women's shot put today. But a little disappointed Van Klinken (4th shot put), Angela (3rd 400mH) and Sedney (4th 100mH) couldn't do more.
  8. I'm looking at the Olympic schedule basically every day by now, too much excitement to contain!
  9. Thanks for the info! Yeah we've got an Olympic festival here as well. On the beach in The Hague actually, not Amsterdam as far as I know. I was just thinking about going there during the Games actually. Apologies for the spam in the Diamond League thread!
  10. Bit off-topic, but that looks super impressive! Is it a purely commercial project, or is it the official center of the Slovakian NOC (like 'Papendal' in the Netherlands which is a similar center, although a bit smaller and older by now)?
  11. There we go! Gold for Van Klinken (discus throw) and Lau (10.000m)!
  12. Sadly the Netherlands is one of the dummy options, as we don't have any athletes in karate and wrestling. I don't follow contact sports much, so I just guessed safely for France, Italy and Germany.
  13. Just looked at tomorrows start lists and noticed our two decathletes are both named Sven and have the same 100m PB. They're in the same heat tomorrow. Also our first medal chances coming up tonight in womens Discus and 10.000m. About time, can't let Greece get to far ahead
  14. There's also a COVID case before departure to Tokyo in the Gymnastics team. They're supposed to leave on sunday and every member (staff and athletes) of the team is currently quarantined.
  15. Ramsey Angela won his 400mH semi-final by a full second with a 49.17 pb. Not bad. He was definitely close to qualifying for Tokyo individually, but in the end he's going as part of the 4x400m relay.
  16. For the Dutch there's actually five soon-to-be Olympians in the squad. Jorinde van Klinken (Discus and shot put), Zoë Sedney (100mH) and Ramsey Angela (400mH) should be contenders for gold in this age group. I'm less familiar with the chances of Diane van Es (5000m) and Jessica Schildér (shot put) and the other Dutch athletes. Some of them have won medals in U20 tournaments before, so I expect there's still medal contenders among them.
  17. Handig documentje!
  20. Update of my prediction from earlier this year: Archery: 0-1 Athletics: 0-3 (was 0-2) Cycling road: 2-3 (was 1-2) Cycling track: 3-5 BMX: 1-2 Mountainbike: 1 Field hockey: 1-2 Artistic gymnastics: 0 (was 0-1) Handball: 0 (was 0-1) Judo: 1-2 Rowing: 3-5 Sailing: 3-4 Swimming: 0-3 (was 0-2) Suprise medal: 1-3 Total: 16-34 (was 15-33) Changes: Athletics: added Femke Bol Cycling road: another women's cycling medal. I really think they could get 3 medals in 2 events, Van der Breggen, Van Vleuten, Vos and Vollering are unstoppable (except by Dychert). Artistic gymnastics: removed Zonderland, I sadly don't see it happening anymore Handball: removed women's team, their preparation has been messy and results in friendlies disappointing Swimming: added a third potential medal for our contenders Kamminga (100m/200m breast) / Kromowidjojo (50m free)/ Weertman and Van Rouwendaal (10km open water)
  21. This is my plan as well. I might get up early if some key events require it (Van der Poel's mountainbike race, Bol's 400mH, track cyling men's team sprint and a few more). Other than that two weeks of vacation with a 7 AM alarm is early enough! Respect for the fanatics!
  22. I have to say Pavan/Melissa have looked more beatable than the other top seeds whenever I saw them play in the world cups. There are definitely chances for the other three teams. Out of the Dutch teams, I'd say Keijzer/Meppelink have the easiest route to the knockout stages. Think the Brouwer/Meeuwsen group will be harder with the Brazilian favorites and a strong American team.
  23. The draw just concluded. Women's pools: Men's pools:
  24. You're right. Lecomte looks like almost a lock in for gold already (which is crazy considering it's her debut year at the elites). Meanwhile Fluckiger could realistically get bronze or miss out behind Van der Poel and Pidcock.
