  1. I tried to give a 'Thanks' reaction for the update, but I got an error Edit: it worked the second time
  2. I'm hoping Steenbergen can win a medal here after her strong world championships with multiple pb's!
  3. There's a Women's Youth (U18) World Championship going on. Quarterfinals were played today. Semifinals tomorrow will be: Netherlands - Denmark South Korea - Hungary
  4. Top of the medal table: Surprisingly GB is in 17th place with only 1G 2B. I assume some of their eligible athletes might have preferred the Commonwealth Games? In total 34 nations won a medal. Jamaica is looking ready to continue dominating women's sprinting. Strong showing by South Africa in 5th place, winning the 400m M and shot put W. For the Dutch it's our best result yet in an U20 WC, improving on 1G 1S 1B in both 1992 and 2000.
  5. A1 CEV Nations Cup 2022 Women: 1. Switzerland 2. Germany 3. Latvia Men: 1. Norway 2. Italy 3. Netherlands This nations cup is another new tournament format, but most nations did send their strongest teams. Although on the Dutch womens team Stam/Schoon chose to play national tournaments at home instead. With them present our womens team should've been a medal contender as well.
  6. I respect her for trying to regain her level and becoming fit again, but by now you'd think her body has given enough hints that it doesn't want to do the whole sprinting business anymore.
  7. I didn't know we even competed in this sport, but apparently four Dutch boats made it to the semi-finals:
  8. Watch out, he'll win the 200m as well. That's 100m extra space for shenanagans.
  9. I got a little behind on the beach volleyball tournaments: Espinho, Portugal Challenge tournament (14-17 July) Women: 1. Clancy/Mariafe 2. Quiggle/Schermerhorn 3. Andressa/Vitoria Men: 1. Bryl/Losiak 2. Ermacora/Pristauz 3. Samoilovs/Smedins Agadir, Morocco Challenge tournament (21-24 July) Women: 1. Piersma/Van Driel 2. Hermannova/Stochlova 3. Menegatti/Gottardi Men: 1. Immers/Boermans 2. Berntzen/Mol 3. Krattiger/Beer Both tournaments had fairly weak fields, mostly the Moroccon one. Next Beach Pro Tour event is the Hamburg, Germany Elite tournament (10-14 August). The pro tour (something like world cups) keep going all the way into november with trips to South Africa, Brazil and Australia still coming up. Currently ongoing is a European 'Nations cup' where two teams per country face off against each other, sort of like the Olympic qualification tournaments.
  10. Emmanuel won the decathlon last night! Apparently with a score that would have placed him 4th at the previous U20 worlds. The whole top 3 broke 8000 points then, which none of the current generation have done. I don't know if the previous generation was particularly strong, or this one slightly weaker.
  11. Why is Sophia not a 100m sprinter, he has barely any hurdling technique and just barges through to the final battered and bruised from all the hurdles he's hitting.
  12. I tuned into the middle of the pole vault and was really wondering 'Did Emmanuel skip this distance or has he failed already?' Great NU20R by Seedo just before though!
  13. Gabriel Emmanuel is working on an incredible decathlon filled with PBs. This could be a very close battle with the Swede Thelander.
  14. I love that you basically need live updated excel spreadsheets to properly follow the multi events.
  15. Please not motorsport for the love of mother earth. Let's not give 'Who can burn fossil fuels around a lap the fastest' competitions any more attention than they need. There's far far far far too much money spent on formula 1 cars and flying them all over the world already.
  16. These 110m hurdles heats are bizarre to watch. Every heat is won by a guy hitting anywhere between 3 to 8 hurdles on the way to victory. They're just powering through the hurdles instead of jumping over them and beating the rest of the field on raw speed alone.
  17. Afternoon session is live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBRzrhYxw9A&ab_channel=WorldAthletics
  18. I believe there was about an eight week break between the US season and the world championship and Kimmann took that time period as a break from training to recharge as well. The Suisse have a great generation with Marquart and Claessens in this sport!
  19. Sarina Wiegman succesfully defends her title!
  20. I believe there is no discussion thread for the women's world tour. Results in the Tour de France Femmes: Yellow jersey: Annemiek van Vleuten Polkadot jersey: Demi Vollering Green jersey: Marianne Vos White jersey: Shirin van Anrooij Not too bad if I say so myself
  21. No medals for the Dutch is a disappointing result, even if I haven't checked which boats were present.
  22. These events are always a pleasure to watch. Barely any downtime because of the different age groups competing in a single event, and always fast paced close races. Another bronze medal for Merel Smulders (the younger sister) after three Dutch women qualified for the finals. On the mens side Kimmann was not in shape and there's a large gap in quality between him and the other Dutch men.
  23. Thanks for the coverage @hckoĆĄice! After this tournament I suddenly feel like it would be a good idea to travel to Slovakia...
  24. After winning 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in Judo, the Dutch team loses the second round of the mixed team tournament to Italy. Real shame. I fear that all our strongest judoka were in the lightest weight classes this time (which is the opposite in our senior team actually).
  25. Yeah Baauw has been one of the strongest riders in womens bmx for a few years now, but in Dutch media she's in the shadow of the Smulders sisters.
