Qualification Tracker

  1. I feel 9/10 is pretty set unless the nation is completely snake-bitten and fails to win more than a few golds. At the very least, the nine should finish in the top 10 in terms of total medals. The tenth nation has a few options: maybe if they convert their chances into gold.
  2. We are down to our final direct qualifier. It all started about two years ago when qualified in triathlon at the 2022 World Mixed Relay Championships. The final quota will be between and in men's basketball.
  3. Spain has a nine point lead going into the final quarter
  4. takes the second quota. holds a decent lead against they just need to take it home.
  5. Greece 45 - 39 Croatia at halftime
  6. I can't speak for the other CONCACAF nations, but Canada took this tournament quite seriously. There was quite a bit of advertising for this tournament and the player's/management's attitude was this was the men's equivalent to the women's Olympic tournament.
  7. That first quarter was pretty much all Brazil. Latvia seems to have corrected itself and cut the lead going into the second half. Brazil still has a lot of work to do, especially in the third quarter to prevent the comeback.
  8. Thanks to the big nations declining quotas.
  9. So happy for the team. is next. I dislike it when teams from the same group face again prior to the final. Especially for a 16-team tournament where this could have been avoided.
  10. It could be 15 if IJF didn't count AIN in its nation count
  11. Mixed team quotas and tripartite quotas are not split between genders so there was always a chance that more athletes from one gender will compete.
  12. So according to the event page. It looks like the tripartite quotas have been awarded, but I am unable to find the list...
  13. Weird, maybe it's my browser...
  14. Does the men's/women's doubles entry appear for anyone else?
  15. I really wished was in a different group they could have had a chance, but I feel Spain is a bit too powerful.
  16. Yeah, I can understand why nations like New Zealand or South Africa decline continental quotas due to lack of competition, but any European that qualifies has earned the spot IMO.
  17. I think the best athlete should be selected in swimming. The Olympics aren't the only event, we have the World Championships, continental championships and games
  18. Looking "before CR7" Portugal had quarterfinal or better appearances in Euros 1996 and 2000, they also made the 2002 World Cup. Quite the stretch, missing only the 1998 World Cup over the past 28 years. It's more amazing when you consider before then they only qualified in three major tournaments.
  19. Won't the other golfers also get to be registered?
  20. That's correct, it was always 45 athletes through standard/world ranking and 3 for universality.
  21. I agree. Most events wouldn't even need to remove quota places to accommodate them. The field and long distance events are fine, just tack on the extra athletes. The issue would be the 200m and 400m where lanes become a problem. The solution would be to follow the 800m and have a max of 3 universality athletes per event compete.
  22. As mentioned, you don't need to be a competitor to be the flag bearer. In 2008, boxer Manny Pacquiao was selected as flag bearer for the Philippines despite never competing at the games.
  23. Looks like got a tripartite quota in taekwondo, women's -49kg
  24. Literally the last qualifier. NOCs across all sports have until July 8th to accept or decline their quotas so that reallocations can occur.
