  1. Spain will probably win gold in the men's 800 meters today.
  2. Maybe in 2040
  3. 1 gold was missing, pity about Pichiardo today... 5,5 medals, because Palmisano's silver is in a non-Olympic competition, so it can be counted by 0.5.
  4. Italy only has Battocletti left... I have a feeling it will be 4-5 today.
  5. But not in Athletic... In fencing, judo etc they are at now.
  6. Women's foil dominated 10-15 years ago with Vezzali. Unfortunately, the USA is now better.
  7. Marquez in Moto GP? Although I take Olympic sports more seriously than motorsport. I would prefer two or three dominant people in Olympic sports than someone like Rossi or Vettel.
  8. Italy has almost no dominant people in sport, except perhaps in women's fencing some years ago. Sinner is supposedly great, but Alcaraz is younger and better than him. Maybe Alberto Tomba in alpine skiing someday, but that was 30 years ago...
  9. Alonso lost several World Championships at the very end of the season to Vettel etc., if I remember good?
  10. I don't think Russia will ever return to athletics. They've been out of the game since 2015, long before the war in 2022.
  11. Nadal? Alonso? Contador?
  12. Ok, the best World Champ for us in years, but of course behind Spain... If something doesn't change, they'll be better than us everywhere in a few years.
  13. Who won in 2014 and 2018?
  14. And that way we'll finish behind Spain in the medal count, because they have a dominant man/woman and we don't. This has been our problem for years, and Spain still has their share of Alcarazs, Nadals, Yamals etc.
  15. This is the kind of dominance Sven Kramer once had in the 5k and 10k races. You simply can't beat someone like that.
  16. I simply don't like such dominant people. Perez has been doing whatever he wants since last year.
  17. There is no Russia, now Spain has its own mafia :P
  18. Second debacle for us, after Iapichino.
  19. Palmisano
  20. These TV commercials on Rai are pissing me off... Can't they really just let it go at night? On another thing, that these commercials are so stupid in that time I'm definitely going to buy a Jeep now that they're showing me a TV ad about it
  21. Palmisano for a medal?
  22. I should used the word "miracle" in quotation marks, because in my opinion, it is more than just a successful or good cycle, most better than previous, as Gianlu recently wrote about here.
  23. Thanks for your post. Speed skating is associated with one name in our country: Maurizio Marchetto: the father of Fabris's successes in Turin, then his departure for Russia- a miss of success for some years and then his return to Italy- another successes from 2018 OG. That's too many medals with different people (Fabris, team in 2006, Ghiotto, Lollobrigida, team in years 2024-2025) to call it a coincidence+ however, organizing two winter OGs in the 21st century provides some concrete funding for this and other winter sports (although, of course, with more investment in ice rinks in ITA, this system could be much more efficient and stable). Canoe slalom? There was Molmenti, now it's de Gennaro, also a bit too much for a coincidence. Perhaps it's a niche sport in the world and maybe it doesn't require a huge practicing people to win whatever from time to time? It's not like the 100-meter sprint in athletics...
  24. So, I'm opening a discussion about the miracle of Italian athletics in only 10 years: 2015 vs 2025 Any ideas, conclusions, etc.? I would certainly appreciate of feedback from users from Italy, but also from other countries. Perhaps we'll reach some interesting conclusions https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy_at_the_2015_World_Championships_in_Athletics vs https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy_at_the_2025_World_Athletics_Championships
  25. What`s about older stars from Russia, who competed before 2022?
