I agree with Near, this is all on Conmebol. I don't feel like elaborating about this now but, in short, Conmebol, for some unknown reason, organized matches like they were going to be attended by your average american fan and not largely by the latino inmigrants there. There is a reason why in your regular football game in south america the stadium has numerous rings of security staff around, alcohol is banned, fanbases aren't mixed, etc. Conmebol decided to act like nothing of that was going to be a problem here.

Since Tokyo it's possible for the same country to have two kayakers in an event.

did pretty good in this tournament considering the injuries and lacking some attacking talent. Based on level shown should win this final, but has too many great players to be written off even if they play poorly.

We played like ass again, no chance to win this final. Half of the team is in terrible form, especially Messi. Only way we win is making it to a shootout.

Sailing seems to have a "safe pick" for gold in almost every event except windsurfing and women's dinghy. The most obvious is in Nacra, the main Italian crew won the last 3 WChs and (almost) every big event in the cycle as well.
