    Post-covid world governments finally realizing that using taxpayer money to fund the 30th best athlete in the americas is pointless. Was about time.

    Italy and Cuba are currently tied in wins, points and set ratio. If Italy beats Brazil, Cuba can grab the quota if they beat Iran with a better score (eg. ITA wins 3-1, CUB needs to win 3-0). If they win by the same score, Italy will probably qualify because their points ratio is much better. If Brazil wins none of the above matters and Brazil qualifies.

    I'll put it very simply: The loser of Brazil v Italy, Argentina and Slovenia are 99,99% qualified by ranking. Then other place for Egypt or Tunisia. And the final place is going to be for Serbia (most likely) or Cuba/Canada/Netherlands/Iran (low chance).

    There's no Oceania in volley. Slovenia has an enormous difference over Serbia who are next in ranking. Only a shockingly terrible VNL performance would prevent them from qualifying.

    If only Poland wouldn't have dropped a point to both these teams we'd still have a realistic chance. But Poland's coach probably assumed they were not tough opposition beforehand... oh well.

    will play OQTs. I wonder if will play it given they were chosen as host of one. Probably not, they have been happy to host hockey tournaments in which they don't participate recently.

    Leon made all the difference. Without his serves in key moments Poland doesn't win today. He rests out with Canada but plays today.

    The men's volleyball roster is stronger than I expected, I think they are favorite for gold now.

    Because Conmebol HQ is in Paraguay and its president is almost always a paraguayan. They have a lot of political power. It's pretty telling that Chile doesn't get any game despite they were in the south american bid too.

    This is: 1. Stupid. 2. Humilliating (we're being given "scraps" by the europeans). 3. Logistically a nightmare for our teams cuz it will worsen our chances to perform in the competition.

    Why do all canadian players "scratch" the ball when they serve and how it can possibly be this effective in disrupting reception?

    India is 10 times better than anyone here but they also sometimes drop the ball in a mind-boggling way so you can never say they'll win 100% sure.
