  1. Ski Cross WC Val Thorens, France Women Gold- Daniela Maier Silver- Brittany Phelan Bronze- Marielle Berger Sabbatel First non-Naeslund win since December 14, 2021 in Arosa (since then has recorded 22 straight wins, including the 2023 Worlds title/2022 Olympic title and 18 World Cup gold medals) where she finished 4th. Men Gold- Jared Schmidt (Wasn’t expecting this, if anyone, thought it would’ve been Howden or Mahler. Now normally, I wouldn’t include Mahler as a medal contender, but he breezed through the rounds up until the big final yesterday) Silver- David Mobaerg Bronze- Johannes Rohrweck Youri Duplessis Kergomard was originally listed as the winner, but now he’s listed as 4th. 2. Not only did Sandra Naeslund fail to win, but she finishes off the podium too?
  3. Pools have just been announced for VNL 2024. As a reminder, the top five unqualified nations in the World Rankings (including an African country, which is pretty much guaranteed to be Kenya as no African nation will be competing in events that’ll add points towards their World Ranking) after the end of the preliminary phase will qualify for Paris. Here’s the countries still in contention: Italy (338.97 pts) China (329.65 pts) Japan (305.09 pts) Netherlands (287.94 pts) Canada (265.66 pts) — Kenya (162.42 pts) China and Italy seem safe to qualify. For Japan, it would take a disastrous VNL for them to fall behind both Netherlands and Canada, don’t see it happening. IMO it’ll be between us and the Netherlands for the final quota. Kenya has pretty much locked up the African quota. Week 1 (May 14-19, 2024) Antalya, Turkey Turkey Italy Poland Japan Germany Netherlands Bulgaria France Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Brazil United States Serbia China Canada Dominican Republic South Korea Thailand Week 2 (May 28- June 2, 2024) Macau, China China Italy Brazil Japan Dominican Republic Netherlands Thailand France Arlington, Texas United States Turkey Poland Serbia Germany Canada Bulgaria South Korea Week 3 (June 11-16, 2024) Hong Kong, China China Turkey Brazil Poland Dominican Republic Germany Thailand Bulgaria TBC, Japan Japan United States Italy Serbia Canada Netherlands France South Korea

Halfpipe WC Secret Garden, China Women Gold- Cai Xuetong (93.25) Silver- Liu Jiayu (85.75) Bronze- Maddie Mastro (85.50) Men Gold- Scotty James (91.25) Silver- Ruka Hirano (88.25) Bronze- Chaeun Lee (87.50) Full Results No streaming options for Canada yet again. FIS snowboard YouTube channel was geoblocked along with a Chinese site that streamed the event. In addition to that, there were no available streams on CBC sports. This is getting ridiculous they used to have every single event streamed last year
  9. My Vancouver Canucks improve to 17-9-1, after a 2-0 (1Q 1:55 ‘Höglander, 3Q 17:55 ‘Blueger) shutout over the Minnesota Wild! Casey. Fucking. DeSmith. 26 save effort by him (including 10 in the 1Q, where we were severely outplayed but still managed to go up 1-0) and his first shutout as a Canuck! Canucks fans haven’t had the greatest (and that’s putting it lightly) last few years (aka 10 or so ), so it’s great to see them finally getting it together. But I’ll be taking it game by game, there’s a long way to go in the season and there’s still a chance the Canucks could implode.
  10. Curling will in fact also be on this weekend, with the Nutrien AG Western Showdown! All matches streamed here: https://m.youtube.com/@CurlingZone

  16. Day 14 (August 9, 2024) (Side note, yes I’m posting this before I’ve finished most of my predictions, because when I did this last night my page refreshed, and all the content went away. Three hours… wasted. ) If you’re curious on the rest of my predictions, come back to this thread in around 8 hours and I’ll have the rest of my predictions/updated medal table up hopefully Athletics- Women’s 4x100m Relay Gold- Jamaica Silver- United States Bronze- Côte D’Ivorie United States and Jamaica way ahead of the rest of the field, but ultimately Jamaica grabs gold. Marie José Ta Lou with a great anchor leg for Côte D’Ivorie to overtake Great Britain for bronze. Athletics- Women’s Shot Put Gold- Chase Ealey Silver- Gong Lijiao Bronze- Jessica Schlider Chase Ealey way ahead of the rest of the field, with a mark of 21.02m. First time over 21m for Ealey! Athletics- Men’s 4x100m Relay Gold- United States Silver- Canada Bronze- Jamaica IMO @rafalgorka I think you’re severely underestimating the Canadians, who won gold at last years Worlds, and bronze and silver at the Rio 2016/Tokyo 2020 Olympics with the same four (DeGrasse, Brown, Rodney, Blake) athletes. Sure, they failed to advance from prelims at this years Worlds, but that squad was without Andre DeGrasse (our star sprinter) who chose to focus on the men’s 200m final (that happened after) rather than the men’s 4x100m heats. Canada was in a qualification position until the last leg, where Bolade Ajomale (heats runner at best) was something like 0.5s behind the rest of the field (Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but you get my point ) Anyways, with Andre DeGrasse back in peak form (no recent 100m time to judge from, but a 19.76 at the DL Final shows he’s definitely back on track) after years plagued by injuries and covid, we should be one of the medal favourites. Athletics- Women’s 400m Gold- Sydney McLaughlin Silver- Marileidy Paulino Bronze- Sada Williams McLaughlin does the double! First medal for Barbados at Paris! Reigning Olympic Champion Bahama’s Shaunae Miller-Uibo 5th. Athletics- Men’s Triple Jump Gold- Pedro Pichardo Silver- Hugues Fabrice Zango Bronze- Jaydon Hibbert Reigning Olympic champion strikes gold yet again, for Portugal’s first gold medal at Paris! Best ever result for Burkina Faso at the Olympics! (Previous best was Fabrice Zango who won bronze at Tokyo 2020) Cuba’s Christian Nápoles 4th, Italy’s Andy Diaz Hernandez 5th, Cuba’s Lázaro Martinez 6th, Will Claye 7th, Yasser Triki 8th. Athletics- Women’s Heptathlon Gold- Anna Hall Silver- Nafi Thiam Bronze- Anouk Vetter Thiam leads Hall heading into the final event, but Hall with a massive 2:04 low in the 800m to win the gold medal. Both Thiam and Hall record marks over 7,000pts, and are well ahead of the rest of the field. Athletics- Women’s 10,000m Gold- Sifan Hassan Silver- Gudaf Tsegay Bronze- Letesenbet Gidey After disappointment in the women’s 5,000m, where she failed to podium, Sifan Hassan grabs gold in the women’s 10,000m! Athletics- Men’s 400m Hurdles Gold- Karsten Warholm Silver- Rai Benjamin Bronze- Kyron McMaster First ever Olympic medal for British Virgin Islands! Beach Volleyball- Women’s Tournament (For prediction purposes, I’ll just do women’s first, but the schedule isn’t completely out yet, it could be the men’s medal matches) Gold- Ana Patricia/Duda Silver- Taryn Kloth/Kristen Nuss Bronze- Melissa Humana-Parades/Brandie Wilkerson (probably one of my biggest medal hopes, Canada still hasn’t won an Olympic beach volleyball medal, and we’ve had three women’s teams reach the quarterfinals at Rio 2016/Tokyo 2020) No medal for reigning World champions United States’s Kelly Cheng/Sara Hughes (hopefully, I can’t stand Cheng) as they lose 1-2 in the quarterfinals to fellow teammates Kloth/Nuss. Boxing- Women’s 50kg Gold- Buse Cakiroglu Silver- Wu Yu Boxing- Women’s 66kg Gold- Nikhat Zareen Silver- Buse Naz Surmeneli First gold medal for India at Paris! 17. Isn’t extra time implemented by the number of minutes stoppages occur? You can’t use that as an excuse.
