  1. I mostly agree, but I think there’s some areas where you’re underestimatin Canada. Volleyball (-12) - Despite their momentum, I don’t see our women’s volleyball team qualifying. ALSO, it’d take a big upset for us to not qualify a second pairing in women’s beach volleyball, with it being either Pavan/McBain or Bukovec/Bansley at the NORCECA Qualifier. I’d also give a solid chance to Scachter/Dearing. We’d be rooting for Diaz/Alayo and a second American pairing to qualify through the World Rankings to be almost guaranteed, but even if both are there I wouldn’t write us off. Rowing (-10) - I think you’re crazy to think that Canada will qualify 30 (!) athletes in rowing. We’ve been on a decline ever since Tokyo, and I don’t see us coming back from it in time for the Final Qualification Regatta. I’m thinking we qualify in men’s eight and men’s single sculls. Sailing (+1) - ICLA 7 quota through the Final Qualification Regatta. Shooting (+1) - Not exactly sure in which event, but I do think one of our shooters can secure a quota through a Pan American Olympic Qualifier. Lindsay Boddez in women’s trap seems the most likely, but there’s a bunch of events where we’re on the outside looking in (just as easily could fail to win a quota) so I’m not too sure. Boxing (+2) - Way too pessimistic here, Cavanaugh and Delgado have good chances. Tennis (+?) - Not exactly sure how many athletes we’ll qualify, but 3 sounds pretty bleak, even with the state of Canadian tennis at the moment. Andresscu, Shapo, Raonic, Marino all have chances.
  2. New WL in women’s pole vault, as Molly Caudery clears 4.86m!
  3. I don’t really care about any form of gymnastics (sorry), but I might actually watch it at Paris because of Nemour. She’s really really talented.
  4. 58.93 for Masse in the women’s 100m backstroke!
  5. Junior Worlds were on this week. On the men’s side, won gold, won silver, and won bronze On the women’s side, undefeated won gold, won silver, and won bronze 4th for
  6. Lucy Jarrad through to round two, winning her heat! Caitlin Simmers already off to repechage
  7. Go men, really want to see Medina back at the Olympics
  8. Great start for Already qualified Olympian Sanoa Olin and Levi Young both won their heats and are through to round two!
  9. Is he injured or something?
  10. I disagree somewhat, I think Gonzalo Gutierrez is the most likely surfer from Spain to qualify. Spain’s women’s team has more depth though.
  11. That won’t happen, as both and were both among the top 50 at the 2023 ISA Worlds. If either of them decline their quota, and no other tripartite nation finishes among the top 50 here, the quota will then get reallocated to the next highest ranked unqualified surfer at the 2024 ISA Worlds.

  13. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone as interested as you in the event of discus throw But I guess it makes sense, as one of your own Alekna will probably be on the podium at Paris
  14. Women’s Skeleton Gold- Hallie Clarke (3:51.27) Silver- Kim Meylemans (3:51.49) Bronze- Hannah Neise (3:51.53) Men’s Skeleton Gold- Christopher Grotheer (3:44.91) Silver- Matt Weston (3:45.14) Bronze- Yin Zheng (3:45.92)
  15. Tokyo Marathon in about a week and a half. Andrea Seccafien will attempt to breach the OQS of 2:26.50.
  16. Alysha Newman with a new Canadian record in women’s pole vault, with 4.83m at the All Star Perche! (WA Indoor Tour Silver)
  17. SO SO happy for her. She was one of the favourites for a medal at Tokyo 2020, but when the Olympics got delayed another year due to the pandemic it impacted her a lot. Here’s a video of the clearance for anyone that missed it:
  18. 2:08.44 for Masse in the women’s 200m backstroke!
  19. First two runs for men’s and women’s skeleton were on today. For the women, Hallie Clarke leads on 1:57.17, ahead of Tabitha Stoecker (1:57.20) and Hannah Neise (1:57.23). Very tight in the rankings, realistically there’s probably around 15 athletes still in the mix for a medal. For the men, it’s looking like it’ll be a two-man race for gold with Christopher Grotheer and Matt Weston seperated by only 0.04 (1:54.30 to 1:54.34), with both around 7/10th of a second faster than current third place Yin Zheng (1:55.03). Anyone from top 12 and higher is still in the mix for the bronze medal though.
  20. After one run, Kimberly Bos leads with 58.18, ahead of Halle Clarke in second with 58.20 and Tabitha Stoecker in third with 58.25 Very tight between the top 11 or so, a lot can change in the next three runs.
  21. Clarke 0.02 behind current leader Bos after 10 athletes
  22. Not a great run by Margaglio… 0.73 back of current leader Bos
