Raubichi is making a bid to host the European Championships.
According to the best Polish biathlon journalist the decision has been made and the EC will take place in Raubichi.

I´d simply put a time limit on world records.
They stand for say 20 years(or some other remotely reasonable time limit)and then they get erased so the race for setting WRs can start again.
A 20 year time limit would erase most of the dreadful so called world records. As a Swede I am particulary annoyed that the legendary Carolina Kluft never had a chance to set the official world record.
Everyone knows what really went on in the 80´s and 90´s.It has continued into the 2000´s(I wont Farah name names Bolt)..but the most awful one´s is from the 80`s in particular.
A time limit would erase Kratochvilova and Koch and others to the scrapyard of history, where they belong.
Total bullshit idea tbh. If the doping continues then what's the point of a 20 year reset? Quite frankly the modern medicine and TUE system allows the doping to be even more difficult to uncover than in the 80s. Two of the biggest modern scandals - BALCO & Russia were only exposed due to the widespread nature of athletes involved and not due to better lab technology.

Hanna Oeberg with the fastest 2nd leg.
Poland in 18th, 22 seconds behind Lithuania... we could be lapped given our men's struggles.
-
Herrmann & Innerhofer on the penalty loop.
-
Sure enough, Tomasz Sikora wasted no time in telling the audience about the Italian girls beef. He also suggests the handover will be "interesting"
-
Julia Simon one penalty loop, Kinga Zbylut two loops.
We're out of Top 10 contention after the 1st shooting

Let's face it, if this car flips and hits the top of the wall like Greg Moore at Fontana 21 years ago the aeroscreen will be rendered useless

Thomas Dressen wins in Saalbach.
Old school downhill track with zero technical sections and everyone gets bounced around on the bumps.
Mauro Caviezel made one huge error on the bottom that cost him the win.
Beat Feuz clinches the DH small globe with two races remaining.

I thought you just meant a rather naive TV commentator said that at the time, but alright. Much like the naive TV commentators here were positively (no pun intended) amazed by the Gewiss-Ballan show in 1994.
Gewiss-Ballan? That's from cycling? I have no idea what are you talking about since I don't follow cycyling that much.

Obviously. The wonderful 90's, when absolutely nobody doped
I didn't say that. I just made a comparison between FGJ & Arron you obviously disagree with. Whatever

I was watching live on TV when Christine Arron won the 1998 European Championships in 10,73 and even then it was already said this is the real women's WR

Polish mixed relay squad for tomorrow is Zbylut-Zuk-Guzik-Szczurek. We never used this particular line-up before
Anterselva is of course the place where won it's only World Championship gold medal back in 1995 when a 21-year old student Tomasz Sikora won the individual event beating Jon Age Tyldum and Oleg Ryzhenkov. Tyldum went on to win the overall World Cup that season but was quickly overtaken by O.E. Bjoerndalen as Norway's team leader and retired at the age of 30 which I never really understood.
Ryzhenkov and Vladimir Dratchev had easily the fastest ski speed on the day and would have won gold even with one miss. They missed 2 & 3 times respectively.

So Sinn Fein is like the nationalist party right? I don’t know much about Irish politics, so I’d love explanation of what’s going on here. Plus, the whole damn country decided to use Gaelic for anything official, which makes it a pain in the ass to understand the process.
The name itself suggests it's a nationalistic party Hell, it's the Mother of all Irish Independence parties. The other two were basically formed by renegades from Sinn Fein.

Joaquin Phoenix’s best performance will always be either Joker or Gladiator.
Deffo not Gladiator. I feel like he was too young for that kind of role back then.
'Joker' for him reminds me of how Michael Keaton suddenly rose from the dead with 'Birdman'. It's a revival but for many of these 50 year olds I feel like their best acting was like 20 years ago.
I'm a cinema noir fan going all the way back to Orson Welles' 'Third Man' I saw when I was a kid (obviously not in the 1940s ). L.A. Confidential remains the best of the modern movies from that genre.
Joaquin Phoenix would be a better fit for Chris Hemsworth's role in 'Bad Times at El Royale' IMO.

I get a feeling Oscars are going to the mainstream actors for a while now. I remember back in the 90s there was always at least one winner whom I didn't know who that is. Now it's mainstream like hell. Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger & Laura Dern is total rich are getting richer kind of stuff. Laura Dern was off the wall after Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart 30 years ago but man, even that kind of cinema noir is gone. Dare I say this very much changed after Di Caprio started to whore up his quest for Oscars.
I'm really old school but 'Clay Pigeons' remains the best movie for Joaquin Phoenix & Vince Vaughn who has gone all mainstream few years ago too.

Ofterschwang is basically a month away. I suppose she will return to action there.
-
Back with tennis, Beatriz Haddad Maia who got busted for ostarine & ligandrol has been given a 10 month ban backdated to 22 July 2019 (the day when she was originally suspended). So she can return on 22 May 2020

That is why I prefer not to expect great results, I prefer to be surprised by a good place or medal at the Olympic Games. Already four years ago they were to be the landmark Games, and it came out as usual.
Polish judokas have underperformed greatly over the past 5 Olympics. Zagrodnik got screwed in London outright but other than that Krawczyk was what, 8 seconds from the final in Athens before a complete brain freeze and Katarzyna Kłys could never find her mojo when it really mattered. I never had much faith in Wilkomirski to begin with but it has to be said judo is probably the biggest Polish disappointement among Olympic sports in the XXI century (along with boxing but everyone wants to go pro there so the expectations are much lower).

Speaking of talents, what's the deal with Frida Karlsson's medical absence?

Yes, it's the left knee. Her ligament is strained and she has a fracture of the "Tibiakopf" in the knee. (I'm sorry, I have heard this word for the first time today, looked for an online-Translation and didn't find any. Maybe someone else knows the english word.)
It's called tibial plateau in English Among others Vonn & Fenninger have had this injury as addition to ACL tear.
