  1. Well, we had three team groups in 1982 R2 when only 12 of 24 teams made it out of the first group stage. But it was quickly abandoned after only one edition. To have two out of three teams progress from group stage would make almost all the last matches in group stage meaningless if the third team didn't win the first two making the last match a de facto shootout to progress. And you know some bozos would still play for a 0-0 draw
  2. Very underwhelming R16 games in the top half. Only the Argentine own goal provided the x-factor. Bottom half should be much more interesting, Japan vs Croatia is anyone's for the taking IMO, Spain vs Morocco for the old colonial supremacy (FIFA selected Rapallini as the ref) and Portugal vs Switzerland can possibly go into PSO.
  3. Yeah, but you still need ski jumping for NC
  4. Kane scores. 2-0. Guess we'll have to wait for upsets until Japan plays
  5. France wins 3-1. Thanks for spoling my perfect prediction with the retaken penalty
  6. Mbappe scores again. 3-0. Well, we lost 0-4 last time we played in R16
  7. Krychowiak is finally off the pitch. Should be his last game for NT even if we somehow win this game. Enough of this sucker.
  8. I believe Dutch language is the second most popular for the use of letter "z" in Europe so you could have done better there?
  9. Two shots on target in space of two seconds! We had four total in previous 395 minutes
  10. Good thing they don't play the full anthem
  11. squad vs France. We go back to 4-5-1 from the Mexico game with the only change being Frankowski instead of Zalewski on the wing. Expect nothing but crap in offense with this tactics
  12. @rafalgorkaKusociński is maybe remembered for winning 1932 gold but the TV footage is hardly shown on TV. The one moment that is always shown is Wojciech Fortuna's 1972 first jump and they never show the extremely bad second jump I don't recall anything from Małysz's SLC jumps, the hype was obviously enormous but all I see is Fortuna's jump in my mind Hell, Malinowski's steeplechase finish from 1980 gets more coverage too.
  13. I suppose not enough people even care about cross country to have any opinon. Everyone knows mass starts are TV demand and it will come down to a sprint finish from the pack. So you can tune in for the last 2 kms at best and do away with the first 18. I mean all the usual suspects end up in the lead pack anyway as evident by the final results. Ishida getting 12th place will never be sold as proof how "exciting" this format is.
  14. They're doing 20 km mass starts now? Well, that's one thing Masako Ishida probably hasn't tried in her life before
  15. Well, that's the way it works. FIFA could always ban the federation itself but that would only mean the men's team wouldn't be allowed to play international football either. Not to mention Afghanistan has only played one international match against non-Asian opponent - during 1948 Olympic Games. Even North Korea isn't as alienated like that.
  16. Probably not the moment Roberto Ayala would like to remember
  17. Btw, this was Messi's first goal in knockout phase of the World Cup.
  18. Ryan decided that Borjan's blunder wasn't worthy of the biggest GK blunder at this World Cup
  19. Asamoah Gyan was the first player. @hckošiceprobably only knows that because his first miss was vs Czech Republic
