  2. Your taste in names is quite "interesting".
  3. The former head of sailing’s governing body has joined other sailing officials in questioning the results of a vote to add a mixed-gender offshore class to the 2024 Olympics. https://apnews.com/b8cbfdd8a0874c21b03d522e5502904c Several members of World Sailing's Council have complained that their votes at the 2018 Annual Conference were recorded incorrectly. At least three councillors who were against the urgent Submission 037-18 (To change the Mixed One Person Dinghy event to Mixed Two Person Keelboat Offshore) from the Board of World Sailing, have claimed that their votes were either recorded as "Approve" or listed as "Abstain". A fourth councillor is believed to have made similar claims. All three, Zvi Ziblat (ISR), Peter Hall (CAN), and Georgy Wossala (HUN), spoke against the Submission and said they voted "Reject". On the Voting Schedule, Ziblat and Hall are shown as "Approve", while Wossala is shown as "Abstain". If the voting sheet is re-scored with the claimed "Reject" options selected, the vote on Submission 037-18 receives 11 "Rejects" with 29 "Approves" or 72.5% and fails to meet the required 75% threshold for the 2024 Events to be re-opened. https://www.sail-world.com/news/212753/Finn-proponents-said-to-have-voted-against-class
  4. Johannes Rydzek and Fabian Riessle will start in this weekend's sprint in Davos. https://www.sportschau.de/wintersport/wintersport-meldungen-kompakt-montag-104.html
  5. Today the FINA Extraordinary Congress in Hangzhou (CHN) approved the new Water Polo rules. 161 voted yes, 6 voted no, and 2 were absent. The rule changes approved by the FINA Extraordinary Congress were: • The possession time to be reset to 20 seconds after a) a corner throw awarded; b) a rebound after a shot which does not cause change of possession and c) after an exclusion. • Inside the 6m area, when a player is swimming with and/or holding the ball and is impeded (attacked) from behind during an attempt to shoot, a penalty foul must be awarded (unless only the ball is touched by the defender). • Free throw shall be taken from the location of the ball (except if the foul is committed inside the 2m line). • A goal may be scored from a free throw awarded outside 6 metres from a direct shot or after fake or dribble or putting the ball on the water. (Referees shall use signals if the foul happened outside the 6m line.) • A player taking a corner throw may shoot directly or swim and shoot without passing or pass to another player. • An additional substitution re-entry area will be at any place between the goal line and the centre field line for flying substitutions. • Each team may request 2 time-outs during the game at any time while possessing the ball – and a time-out calling device (button) should be used to call a time-out. • The goalkeeper is allowed to move beyond and touch the ball past the half distance line. • There shall be a 3-minute interval between the second and third period. • The use of audio equipment by the game referees. • The use of game video monitoring system to identify and sanction incidents of brutality or extreme violence that occurred but were not appropriately punished or identified during a game. • The use of video monitoring system to determine goal or no goal (where available).

  7. Clare Egan's skiing!
  8. A minute after you posted this, the Danish commentators on the national broadcasting channel said exactly the same.
  9. 1st November 2019, according to this timeline from the official qualification document. Though it can change, as the Council of IAAF will further discuss the introduction of the World Rankings as the primary qualification process for the 2020 Olympic Games at its next meeting in March. If they drop the World Rankings as the primary qualification process, the entry standards may be used instead, which could mean they will be published earlier in the qualification process.
  10. Well you should know, Mr. time traveler.
  11. Sam Maes has secured his first world cup point/s, Belgium's first ever WC points in GS, and Belgium's first WC points since 2016. (Armand Marchant 18th place in Val d'isére, 11th December 2016)
  12. Half-Brazilian, Lucas Braathen, secures his first world cup point/s.
  13. Hanna Oeberg is not going to start at today's sprint due to a sore throat which irritates her breathing too much.
  14. Sam Maes qualifies for second run in Val d'isére.
  15. Eurosport Nordic has chosen not to buy tv-rights to any winter sport competition in Switzerland. I guess it's a question about money. At least German and Swedish television show every winter sport competition from Switzerland.
  16. Always annoying that Eurosport doesn't have the rights to show races from Switzerland. Oh well, at least German and Swedish television have rights to show Women's Super-G.
  17. 16 November, according to athletics integrity unit. https://www.athleticsintegrity.org/disciplinary-process/provisional-suspensions-in-force
  18. A quick update from the Danish badminton conflict. The players meet today to discuss yesterday's statement from Badminton Denmark. After today's meeting, the players still fully support Mads Oeland as their negotiator. "I just have to confirm that the positions and the mandate of Mads Oeland are backed 100 percent by our players. He has not done one thing or put a comma for which we do not stand. Whom we choose must stand for our bill. Then you can discuss whether it's a good or bad choice. I do not want to be in the media", says Jan O. Joergensen. "It's a bit childish that they try to ask who negotiates for us. We have tried to accommodate them on some points, and we have had some constructive negotiations so far. We stand together as a group, and we stand for everything Mads Oeland and the Player Association convey further", elaborates Anders Skaarup.
  19. It's like a social justice warrior league. Here's their logo:
  20. A new american football league has been created with the name, Freedom Football League. Their will be 10 teams, who will play their games in spring and summer. Former NFL players such as Ricky Williams and Terrell Owens are behind it. In a press release it is said that players will be encouraged to “address society’s challenges relating to social justice, wealth disparity, health and wellness and more hot-button issues they are passionate about.” The league’s first 10 teams will be the Birmingham Kings, Connecticut Underground, Florida Strong, Oakland Panthers, Ohio Players, Oklahoma City Power, Portland Progress, St. Louis Independence, San Diego Warriors and Texas Revolution. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-football-nfl-freedom-football-league/ex-nfl-star-williams-behind-new-freedom-football-league-idUSKBN1O52DL
  21. No other results are important. Only results from the legendary WCH in Ashgabat count.
  22. European youth champion, Dayana Dimitrova, receives a life ban from competing in international weightlifting after her second doping offense since April 2017. The Bulgarian weightlifting federation said that the 18-year-old Bulgarian had used a banned diuretic while training privately. Her coach said she had used the drug to lose weight before the competition in Poland. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-weightlifting-bulgaria/fresh-blow-for-bulgaria-as-youth-champion-banned-for-life-over-doping-idUSKBN1O61RL Well that was a long international weightlifting career for Dimitrova.
  23. Great to see two teams who didn't play to draw it, but to win it. (Though not great for my prediction. A draw would have been better. )
