  2. I have been considering to make a UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League prediction contest for August. I know it's unusual to have a club competition prediction contest, but this sports year have been quite unusual. My initial plan is to have a quite regular football prediction contest. Predict the winner and goal difference in each match. Keep the same point system. However, I do consider to add some additional predictions as it's not a full or "normal" prediction contest. Users/predictors will predict top goalscorers and top assists for each tournament. That is 4 additional predictions. Users pick two players for each of these prediction questions. Users rank/prioritise the two in each prediction. If the 1st prioritised player top the goalscoring list or equal with one or more players, the predictor will score 7.5 points. If the 2nd prioritised player top the goalscoring list or equal with one or more players, the predictor will score 5 points. These additional predictions will be made before the start of the first match of the prediction contest, August 5th. Notice! Lewandowski and Haaland are both way in front on the top goalscorer list in UCL. Therefore I will exclude them from the top goalscorer prediction question in UCL. Users will be asked to predict which player will score most goals in UCL beside/excluding Lewandowski and Haaland. In UEL, Galeno will also be excluded as a choice from the top assists list. I would appreciate to hear from you if this could be interesting? 4. There will instead be sprints, pursuits and mass starts.
  5. I have made a youtube playlist with all the songs for those interested. Songs and countries are sorted by which groups they are in. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLICNv5ge4lvfQCqIB2qx2w2kAZfzwvGk0 I don't know if @OlympicIRL would have an interest in linking to it in one the first posts of this thread?
  6. A great response by Julian Edelman to DeSean Jackson's tweet
  7. Denmark has withdrawn from hosting the 2021 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships due to be held in Copenhagen in October 2021 https://www.gymnastics.sport/site/news/displaynews.php?idNews=2917
  8. Well there were some Debreceni VSC "fans" yesterday evening who didn't seem to practice social distancing when their club was relegated for the first time in 27 years from the 1st league.
  9. I did not see that ITG had reported on that. I wasn't sure that ITTF had already planned to postponed it again? To be honest, I have not been following sports news that closely in May and June. I'm starting with it again as more sports begin to start again after the pandemic break.
  10. Already today ITTF announced that World Team Table Tennis Championships was postponed to 2021. IFF has also announced that they will make a decision on the Men's World Floorball Championships in October.
  11. It has been postponed to 10-23 May 2021 https://len-budapest2020.com/2020/05/05/the-2020-european-aquatics-championships-postponed-to-may-2021/ I wouldn't mind doing a prediction contest for Champions League and Europa League. And as you write, maybe change the point system and include some extra predictions options.
  12. Hey Totallympians As more and more sport starts again after a long break due to the Corona-pandemic, I could be interested in hearing which events you might want to see as prediction contests? Here are some suggestions for prediction contests on top of my head: - Cycling - Tour de France - Cycling - Road Cycling WCH - Tennis - US Open or Roland Garros, maybe both - Table Tennis - World Team Table Tennis Championships - Badminton - Thomas & Uber Cup - Cycling - Giro d'Italia or Vuelta España - Cricket - Men's T20 World Cup - Tennis - WTA Finals - Baseball - Women's Baseball World Cup - Handball - European Women's Handball Championship Maybe: - Tennis - ATP Finals, if it's going to be held - Floorball - Men's World Floorball Championships What do you think about these suggestions? Feel free to come with other suggestions. That's all from me, Totallympics' Prediction Contest Manager Wumo @toulousain, @dcro, @Monzanator, @Giovanni Gianni Cattaneo, @Henry_Leon, @Dolby, @ritesh, @africaboy, @Vojthas, @George_D, @Agger, @Pablita, @ady48, @heywoodu, @SteveParker, @Speedy, @hckosice, @JOSE SEIJO, @Federer91, @PakoNatxo, @vinipereira, @Gianlu33, @Ufilov, @NikolaB, @tuniscof, @vlad, @szy123 @Dunadan, @Herberth10, @mihamiha, @MCMXC, @IoNuTzZ, @Wanderer, @Dnl, @SalamAkhi, @Michal Hroch, @anuj, @brunamoura, @rybak, @Benolympique, @Laraja, @sami-eg, @CCB, @justony, @LDOG, @Chatan, @andreas1990, @Kirkpatrick, @EselTheDonkey, @Topicmaster1010, @monte88, @Illya
  13. Not really a surprise.
  14. @OlympicIRL At what time does the registration period start tomorrow?
  15. A new format has been approved with the final tournament being split over two periods, with the original venues of Hungary and Slovenia still hosting both parts of the final tournament. The qualification competition that is currently underway will finish in September, October and November 2020. The nine group-winners and the five best runners-up will be joined by hosts Hungary and Slovenia for a group stage of four groups of four from 24 to 31 March 2021, with groups hosted by Hungary and by Slovenia. The four group-winners and the four runners-up will then qualify for the final tournament which will be played as a straight knock-out final eight (quarter-finals and semi-finals in Hungary and Slovenia and the final in Ljubljana) from 31 May to 6 June 2021. https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/news/newsid=2642232.html

  18. Main points regarding the CL and EL 2020/21-season from today's meeting in UEFA Executive Committee: https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/news/newsid=2642232.html In order to achieve the necessary separation with the final phase of the 2019/20 season and avoid impact on the access list and on clubs potentially involved in both competition phases, the qualifying rounds of the two competitions will be played in single legs (instead of home and away), with the only exception of the UEFA Champions League Play-offs which will remain over two legs. The draw will determine which club will play the single leg in their stadium. The new calendar of the qualifying phase and group stage 2020/21 is as follows: UEFA Champions League 2020/21 Preliminary round: 8 and 11 August First qualifying round: 18/19 August Second qualifying round: 25/26 August Third qualifying round: 15/16 September Play-offs: 22/23 and 29/30 September Group stage: 20/21 and 27/28 October, 3/4 and 24/25 November, 1/2 and 8/9 December UEFA Europa League 2020/21 Preliminary round: 20 August First qualifying round: 27 August Second qualifying round: 17 September Third qualifying round: 24 September Play-offs: 1 October Group stage: 22 and 29 October, 5 and 26 November, 3 and 10 December There are no changes to the dates of the subsequent rounds. The group stage draws for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League will take place in Athens at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre on 1 and 2 October 2020 respectively.
  19. Main points regarding EL 2019/20 from today's meeting in UEFA Executive Committee: https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/news/newsid=2642232.html Quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final will be played as a final eight straight knock-out tournament in Cologne, Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen between 10 and 21 August. The Round of 16 matches will be played on 05/06 August with kick-off times of 18.55CET and 21.00CET. A decision will be made in due course on whether the Round of 16 matches for which the first leg has already been played will be staged at the home team’s venue or in Germany. The matches FC Internazionale Milano v Getafe CF and Sevilla FC v AS Roma, whose first leg was also postponed, will be played as a single leg at a venue to be confirmed. All subsequent matches in the competition will be played as a final eight tournament, with quarter-finals on 10/11 August, semi-finals on 16/17 August and the final in Cologne on 21 August, all kicking-off at 21:00CET. The draws for the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals and semi-finals will take place on 10 July 2020 at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon and the exact match schedule will be communicated following such draw. Gdańsk, which was originally appointed to stage the 2020 final will now host the 2021 UEFA Europa League Final, whereas the venues for subsequent finals have all agreed to host these a year later than originally planned, with Sevilla in 2022 and Budapest in 2023.
