Badminton

Women singles -  Saina Nehwal & P. V. Sindhu Won their first round inStyle

Mens Doubles -  little known Manu Attri & B. Sumeeth Reddy lost their first round after hard fought against Second seeded Indonesian Pair

Men's Hockey

India lost higher ranked Dutch team by 2-1. But good news is we have booked our Quarterfinals berth.

Boxing

Star Kid Shiva Thapa lost to current Olympic champion in Men's bantamweight after giving good fight.
Blame corrupt AIBA for not getting medal in this category.

Archery

Both Bombayla Devi & Deepika Kumari lost in pre-quarter finals.
Third Straight Olympics, Higher ranked Indian women Archery team fails to win any medal.
I feel sorry for them as they have all possible medals with them expect Olympic medal, again need to wait for 4 more years.

Golf - Indian Men completed their 1st round

Some good news... Indians through to Mixed doubles Quarter Final:)

Where they will face Andy Murray and Heather Watson of :GBR, who won Silver in London Olympics.

Edit: Murray won Silver alongside Robson and not Watson.

As expected, we lose our women's hockey match against United States but surprisingly we are not out of race for QF. We can qualify for QF by simply causing the biggest upset of this Olympics and our women's team's history and defeat Argentina.

Now off to watch Chak De to prepare for the match.

I feel thats a too big statement to make..... don't loose hope...... even ever reliable djokovic, serena, australia hockey team. newzealand rugby, korean world record archer, argentina football team etc. had bad time in this olympics...

You are right .... maybe as fans sometimes we expect to much...

You cant help it...Expectations are bound to be there...WE are a medal starved nation...

Olympics previously meant government officials, netas and babus going on a paid vacation..

then slowly the results started coming...Now we our excepting out best performance ever, and by some decisive margins...

Lots of changes are coming together...For the first time im seeing a larger interest of the people and the media on Indian olympic hopes....

So, the outburst is understandable....

federations are slowly making efforts to manage their affairs better....ppl are realizing the need for sport science...

Government is realising the need for a long term planning and execution...

But there's one thing Im sure of....Even if we surpass our London tally or not, Indian sports would be the ultimate winner...

Say we dont surpass out London tally....the government will ask questions of the federations, which will improve accountability...

Say, we do surpass our London tally - lot of media coverage, increased following and viewership,  which means greater corporate participation

There is extremely high turnout, and no pollster, politician, or newspaper had predicted it; now they’re all there throwing out data. No one has any idea why people voted, also because it was very technical and almost empty polling stations were expected. It will be interesting to understand whether this is a protest vote against the government or a protest vote against the judiciary.
