Worrying signs:

Injury to Neeraj Chopra

Dip in form of both Womens and Mens badminton players (its major worry as we have won one medal here in last 2 olympics)

Inconsistent play by mens hockey team... though womens team is doing little better

Even though they qualify Its better not to talk about archery considering their performance in last 3 olympics particularly womens team.... mens team is doing little better...

Change in weight categories for indian athletes who are medal contenders (Amit phangal, Mary kom, mirabhai chanu, Vinesha phogat).... btw can some one throw more light on change in weight category of Vinesha as her case is not forced change like others

Instead of all crap; let us focus on the main sports. The rest are all of also-ran type.

These sports are:

1. Shooting

2. Wrestling

3. Badminton

4. Boxing

5. Hockey

6. Archery

7. Weightlifting

8. Athletics

India has traditionally performed well at the Olympics in these disciplines.

The rest like Judo, Swimming, etc. are just a waste of time at the Olympics.

Let's have a guess from the participants about the number of medals we can get.

I disagree your view.. My continuous follow of Bhavan devi for 7 years yi3elded result in her being in top 16 in world championships. We need to support raw talent from teen age to be in top nations.

Just read somewhere Vijendra Singh wants to participate in the Olympics. Also, what about Vikas Krishan, Neeraj Goyat and may Kom? Will they participate? May's weight class < 49 kg is not in the Olympic schedule and 49-51 has Nikhat Zareen participating.

There will be a fight out and who wins will move into the qualifiers.

You don't get top notch athletes over night. We need to have patience with our athletes.

I agree with you Prashanth, even Swimming where we are making progress slowly of-course no medal chance in Tokyo, but like yesterday Srihari broke his NR in 200m backstroke again, we need to focus and support more. All the best to Bhavani Devi.

    • Germany also fell hard in this discipline, the same thing happened to Russia - in 2022 they were much weaker than before. Romania – similar levels for years. France – strong growth until 2024, and now a decline again. Georgia – growth, but a large number of naturalized people from the Balkans play there. Generally, I see Georgia has been naturalizing a lot in various sports lately: water polo, figure skating, etc. Could that local regime there be spending much more money to further promote the country through sports?
