Italy is the place in Europe with most Putin's fans that hope to see him destroy EU and invade our Country to rule it like it's Russia :yikes:

but except for a few fanatics, I think that most people doesn't even know what's really happening out East

our media are full of propaganda in favor of both sides (depending on the political orientation), but in all cases there's the feeling that's not a thing really close to us

should something truly happen, we would show the world that we're totally imprepared for anything serious (we can't even manage those few illegal immigrants coming here on the ferry boats from North Africa...how could we cope with a true war? :hairpull:)

not only in Italy but in other countries like Greece and Cyprus also happens the same. They consider Putin as the anti-globalization "leader" against all those they regard as responsible (they call them "new world order") for the planet's and their country  economic (and maybe other ones as well) problems ...

Is it the same as here? Usually the people here who are pro-Putin are exactly the same kind of people who are anti-vax, anti-EU, believing in every single conspiracy, from the moon landing being a hoax to 9/11 to Pizzagate

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

yes, they are!

the problem is that here in Italy there are a lot of them...and they're also very noticeable in our society, our media, all around :hairpull:

p.s. being anti-EU is a good thing :p

it's everything else that's a disaster :pope:

It's fun to always see super strong anti-EU sentiments....but then people and countries who seem to be strongly against it, are the ones eating up the billions of euros in subsidies like candies :p

exactly the same. 100%.

Here in Greece and Cyprus there is also another reason. Because of USA's role (especially Kissinger's who was secretary of State that time) in turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 a great part of people have anti-us sentiments and they have the illusion that if Cyprus takes Russia's side then Putin will send the army to attack Turks in Cyprus.

Or they say: "All western europe countries and USA came to aid Ukraine, but why they left us alone against the Turks?? why they dont codemn them or sanction them in the same way they do with Russia after their invasion of Ukraine??"

Terror attack in Moscow!

Give it a few hours (or less) until the official statements start appearing about Ukraine being behind this, coincidentally. Let's just say if Putin's favourite band was playing tonight, he would have skipped tonight's show.

Yeah, can't be quick enough to deny it because everyone knows where Russia is going to put the blame :p

I mean, Medvedev has apparently all kind of done that.

Edit: Word is now that three people from Ingushetia are wanted. That'd be the number one guess I think, one of those republics in the mountains?

    • Out of curiosity, I listened to a few podcasts about Turkmenistan today. This country has very large deposits of natural gas. In the 1990s, a simple a ordinary people lived quite well there. In the early 21st century, Turkmenistan signed several unfavorable gas deals with China and has practically gone bankrupt since then. 1/3 of the population (about 2 million out of 6 million- mostly young people) emigrated, mainly to Turkey, India, etc. The future of this country is blacka and uncertain. I don't know what other options they have? Russia, Turkey, the EU? Of course, in terms of selling gas. Perhaps sanctions of Russia's and isolation due to the war in Ukraine would be a chance for Turkmenistan to establish economic relations with the EU, but the new president would probably have to loosen and a little liberate up his country's domestic politics.
    • A friend of mine who visited 97 countries of the world be in Turkmenistan (with Kunshamara, are the onlyones i know) and he tell me something that never see in another country: his presence was enough to make nervous to all the people, in restaurants, markets, etc, the presence of an "outsider" generate that.
