Men's Volleyball CEV European Championship 2017

Recommended Posts

Konstantinov announced our roster today. Only 2 changes from the League, one of which is the return of captain Todor Aleksiev, though for me, it is going to be largely for support and experience, rather than form. We have all the current best available, so going for a medal should be the goal, but i think it is time that a final is reached, no matter how hard it may seem. We lost the golden chance 2 years ago, so it is time for a correction! :bones:

Setters -> Georgi Bratoev,  Georgi Seganov

Receivers -> Todor Skrimov, Todor Aleksiev, Nikolay Penchev, Rozalin Penchev

Spikers -> Tsvetan Sokolov, Velizar Chernokozhev

Middle Blockers -> Viktor Yosifov, Nikolay Nikolov, Teodor Todorov, Svetoslav Gotsev

Liberos -> Teodor Salparov, Vladislav Ivanov

France-Italy are the favorites

Italy won't play their best team here, I don't see them challenging any top position.

Winner will be France or Serbia, maybe Russia could win too if they have a good week. Poland I feel will dissapoint. Germany with Grozer comeback is a nice bet for dark horse.

Betting pages give italy 2nd favorite however :mumble:

They are not doing their job correctly then  seriously, without Juantorena, Zaytsev and Birarelli Italy is much weaker.

Yeah, our team is a disaster :p And Zaytsev doesn't deserve the national team.. you can't whitdraw for a sponsorship reason... It's the national team, not your club!

So serbia officially without Marko Ivović :( that is certainly an upset for the competition level... at the other hand, Gyorgy Grozer announced his return to German NT

Historic night for European Volleyball coming up in Warsaw!

National%20Stadium%20Warsaw%20Poland.jpgWarsaw, Poland, August 22, 2017. It is going to be the experience of a lifetime – the Opening Ceremony and Opening Match of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 coming up on Thursday night, August 24 at 20:00 CET featuring hosts Poland and Serbia at PGE National Stadium in Warsaw will gather 65,000 fans to set an all-time record of attendance in European Volleyball! On top of this, Volleyball fans from across the world will be able to watch the highlights of the Opening Ceremony and this historic match on TV – and via the official CEV YouTube channel and CEV EuroVolley Facebook page for those countries where no broadcasting is planned. Make sure you spread the word and you will follow the ‘ultimate Volleyball experience’!

The Opening Match of this year’s EuroVolley will be a ‘remake’ of the match Poland and Serbia played in 2014 – on another historic night for Volleyball, when the Red-and-Whites beat Serbia 3-0 to start their triumphal march towards conquering the gold medal of the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Championship.

Poland’s roster has undergone quite many changes since that night but it is actually more about the experience of a lifetime than about the Volleyball match in itself, which fans have to look forward to and prepare to witness!

    • I`m a traditionalist and I like alpine skiing competitions in the morning hours, illuminated by the sun In ski jumping this is practically non-existentthis in contrast the early 21st century (It's nice that at least there's Planica at the end of every season). There are also traditional competitions under artificial lights, like in Schladming or Madonna di Campiglio. There's no need to do the same thing everywhere as in ski jumping. Alpine skiing finals are rarely super exciting, because usually everything is clear and the skiers are tired from the long season. Finals were often canceled, so this year it was okay for me. If someone wanted a spectacle, that's what the Olympics Games or the World Cup in Kitzbuchel.

    • Baffling scheduling again. It's like FIS want to drive people away.    It's the Finals, on paper your big conclusion to the season, yet it feels like "let's get this over with". Just compare how the ATP treat their finals with this.   Ok, you want to have the GS & SL on Tuesday/Wednesday. That's fine, i've been advocating for more mid-week starts to begin with. But why, oh why do you have them in the middle of the day, on a work week.  Why aren't you having them in the evening, in prime time, when people are off work. Make it a big special event, which people want to visit and not during the day in front of a 100 fans. It's not that hard to choose a place with some floodlights.     And even this week we don't have Champion League football, so the night is free from big competition. Perfect opportunity to have alpine skiing on TV right now, but noooo.
