Hoping for a minimum 4 wins across all 5 events for Canadians. I think Michelle Li should win both her matches, Brian Yang should win at least one, and the women's doubles pair should beat Egypt. There is a chance for them to even beat Netherlands (their only other meeting, Canada won). Would be amazing for the women's doubles to make the knockout stage.

Also for the KO round is it simply AvB, Cvd onward?

For doubles B & C will be drawn again (due to 2012 fiasco)

In all the doubles events there shall be a draw for the knockout matches. This is done because of the match fixing controversy in 2012

To make it simple, let's use the Slovak group ;)

Assuming the players A1, A2, A3 - then:

Day 1 - A1 vs A3

Day 2 - A2 vs A3

Day 3 - A1 vs A2

So, Martina Repiska will play in the first and second day.

They are right now (we can say LIVE) working on the schedule and I see Li vs Sotomayor as first match of the group on Sunday Day 2 :mumble:

Or they might decide that they will sort the schedule according to rank instead of group draw order.

My friends are also confused with this

    • Do you know who the US is going to start?   If it's not Skenes, then the chances of winning go up somewhat
    • That would require the Dominican Republic losing to South Korea and I'll eat a sock if that happens
    • A lot of clear shooting in men's sprint in Otepaa. Laegreid vs Jacquelin ski race for the win.

    • Yep, if they can take advantage of those cracks maybe, but it's too big of a maybe in my opinion. Our pitching has relied on Caissie, Toro, and Lopez the entire tournament, and I don't see that being enough to match the US's firepower.   Canadians are used to disappointment, there's almost always things that go wrong, and there actually being a chance to qualify for the...
    • That was realistic though, this isn't.   The women were heavy favourites, we did better than expected. The men were favourites with their roster of course, but they dominated that final just unfortunate to be going up against prime Hellebuyck who was a brick wall and of course there were a few questionable calls that were crucial in the end.
    • It's unlikely, but possible. USA pitching is not that great imo. Canada will probably have to score 6+ runs to have a chance, but it's definitely possible.
    • If they can beat us in hockey, we can win in baseball
