There are 190 entered for the men and around 160 for the women.  That is 89 more than are scheduled for the sprint today for the men!  That is a lot of people.

what the absolute fuck?

probably every country gaining additional quotas due to junior cup's cancellation? I know that we can start with 6 men, I think.

I thought Arber was tiny.  How is there housing for all the teams and athletes.  I also anticipate a lot of Junior's as well

Booking.com lists 59 hotels for Zwiesel alone :p I'd say there's enough place to fit all these athletes. I mean Zwiesel is closer to Arber than Hochfilzen is to Kitzbuehel?

You are right, I did not expand my search that far.  I only looked in Bodenmais and Bayerisch.

Yeah, the IBU Cup quotas are raised after the Junior Cup cancellations. Poland can field six men & women each too (but we only send 5 men to Arber).

Obviously everyone will focus on Stina Nilsson's performance :p

I think it's much more interesting to place your bets if Sara Urumova will be 10 minutes behind in the sprint or will she get under 10 minutes??

    • Well now's time for a little summary of my experience attending Stop 1.   Overall it was a nice experience, my first time visiting that venue in particular. It brought me some memories from my time at 2011 PanAm Games, seeing athletes from many countries. Now the venue is kind of dated, and it really needs some serious maintenance. For me it was unacceptable that the restrooms for the general public were in poor conditions, and also some sections need a fresh layer of paint, not to mention the heavy layer of dust in the ceiling. Thank God no debris fall in to the pool or on the spectators, but you may see a couple of pigeons continually flying around the swimming complex, even disrupting Mark Hrytsenko's last dive in 10m platform, before being sent away by Ruslan Ternovoi.   there was a pretty large number of Chinese fans on Saturday that came to support their team with flags & banners; however, their overall conduct was very poor, most of them crossing into the "top section" denying people who paid those tickets their rightful seats, ignoring and even shoving the few security elements at the venue and disrupting the general silence by replaying videos with loud sound or standing to take pictures while the divers were competing. Not that the Mexican fans were better; at times they were very disrespectful, particularly with divers preceding local competitors, since the cheered very loudly, ignoring the results (whether bad or good) of the former.   Among my personal highlights was the fact I had the opportunity to meet the Cuevas twins, who won a silver in 3m synchro and with only 14 are considered our next big stars in this sport, and also two time Olympic medalist in 10m synchro Alejandra Orozco, who was very active during the event, often oversawing and helping in any way needed, not to mention very kind and attentive to anyone asking for a photo. Also in attendance was Olympic figure skater Donovan Carrillo, whom I also asked for a photo.   I had an opportunity to see Maddison Keeney at the small cafeteria after winning a bronze in 3m synchro; she was very polite and gracious, accepting to take photos even when she needed to take a break and finish her sandwich; that same day I ran into Moritz Wesemann on my way back to my seat after getting a beer, and on the last day I almost bumped into Jack Laugher (he was going "incognito" mode while trying to decide what to grab from the food carts outside the main building).   So in general, I had a pleasant experience and would love to attend another event in the future. To top it off, there was a brief take of me during Sunday's men's 3m finals on WA stories, which of course I've already downloaded for keeps. I hope to find some time to upload some of the pictures I took; not the ones with me & above mentioned athletes since I'm not to photogenic, but of the few photos of the competition and the practice time that I find are worthy.
