The argument against it was that the existing body had a full programme from cadets to youths to underage while world boxing had not a single mention of any tournaments under the “elite”

Two of those were close. Palmer was second three times at the PGA Championship and won the other 3, Watson was second once at the PGA Championshp and won the other 3. Norman only ever won the Open (Twice) but was second multiple times at each of the other 3.
Back in their era Golf was a bit less predictable than it now where it’s no longer surprising if someone wins a tournament one year and finishes 40th or something the next. (As the 2023 winner Jon Rahm did last year) If someone does that in any other sport it’s still rather surprising. (Even in tennis).
Ramona records should not count. Field needs to include wind rules similar to track. I mean everyone is throwing over 70m so easily here but when they get to Europe we see throws around 70m. At the OG Stona was the only one who managed to threw over it (well right on the mark, not over it). It's a joke.
