I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about. Maybe you mean another discipline than speed? Because in speed it's generally a knockout system.

He had to win whole combination to do that (there's only one spot and we have no one with OQ at this championships). For someone who is specialized in speed it's just... well, impossible.
