No, I was honestly trying to be helpful

I’ve been to quite a few different international events, so that’s why I asked.

I didn’t media accreditation by the way. Unfortunately, the Pan America climbing qualifiers are on the same weekend at a venue only 15 minutes away . I’ll be there amongst the media. It will probably be just me, and a few other niche outlets.

Well just want to represent team usa.   Nothing too crazy

That’s what I wanted to know :d

I’d just go with a simple USA shirt, maybe a jersey. If you’ve got a flag lying around, you might want to bring that. You can also generally buy event shirts/team shirts at the event, so that’s an option as well.

If you want to be festive, and not out there, maybe just try to dress completely in red, white, blue...

USA Rugby fans are known for being on the rowdy side from what I’ve read (at least relative to other US sports fans), so I’d be prepared for that.

Are you going alone, or bringing your family?

I am going alone.  But a buddy might come on day 2.  I do have 2 flags.  One is hanging on the wall.  But the one I can bring is torn a bit that's why I retired it.   Not very respectable to bring.

Yeah, I wouldn’t bring a torn flag no matter what country it is. I’d say just put on some US stuff, and get ready for two awesome days of rugby. I really wish I could be there, so have fun.

@Maxim Fastovsky the US Olympic Trials for Table Tennis are in Santa Monica this year. Unfortunately they’re on the same freaking weekend as the Rugby and Climbing events! What kind of scheduling is this?

That's nothing.. somehow they managed to schedule swimming, gymnastics, and track & field all on the same freaking weekend.

But in the same town/metro area, on the same days, at the same hours?

That no.  Still poor scheduling though.

It's not really far from each other, Rugby in carson, climbing by lax, table tennis in santa monica, it's same area, better then me figuring out how to get to anaheim for volleyball in la2028 and being able to see 3 more events downtown

True. I might have the media shuttles by then though, so not a problem for me :d (or I’ll be a volunteer)

    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
    • Also, I just logged back into my account, where it sent me to update my profile, and when I saved that, I got a screen that included a check mark next to 'Registered for the Draw'.  Not sure I totally trust it, but it does at least say so.  (There's nothing specifically referencing Drop 2 or anything...might just be a stock screen.). I'm curious what it would look like if you looked at it @esube.  https://tickets.la28.org/
    • I didn't buy any tickets, but didn't get the e-mail.   We bought tickets on my wife's account (earlier timeslot), but not 12, and she got the e-mail.

    • I am very curious.  We got extremely lucky in the first ticket drop, both my and my wife's emails were selected for relatively early time slots-- early enough that we bought our full allotment of tickets for good stuff.  Not swimming or gymnastics of course, but we were really pleased,  d   But today I received an email on one of those accounts saying that we were entered into the second drop because we hadn't used up our 12 ticket allotment.  I went back and counted-- twice-- and yes, we certainly did purchase 12 tickets on that account.      I am not sure I want any more!  Did this happen to anybody else?
